The line is only 3 points. JessN said it was an upset special of the week in the SEC (but he declined to pick the upset).
Personally, I don't get it because I don't think LSU matches up. The team I've been watching all year has looked like a #1 team, LSU hasn't.
They turn the ball over twice as much as Bama. They give up almost twice as many points. I've seen at least one team shut their running game down. They are almost entirely dependent on a redshirt freshman quarterback, Bama has a senior closing out his third year as a starter.
LSU will blitz too much, Alabama won't blitz enough. But that's okay, because a senior like JPW and a coordinator like CJM will make them pay for attacking the quarterback excessively; while Jarrett Lee can both be confused by mixing and disguising coverages and bothered by just the right amount of pressure.
LSU gets out-coached and I don't even think I'm talking about the head coaches.
I am shocked that a Moderator would have this attitude! :eek2: And I agree.Guess who doesn't give a rip about what ESPN talking heads think...
You guessed it...

Did he see the UGA game?Stewart Mandel of SI is picking us to get upset also, even though he says:
"Considering LSU's woeful performances against ranked foes, there is absolutely no football-specific reason to pick LSU to win this game. Sometimes, emotion and atmosphere trump all."

I'm not sure if emotion and atmosphere trumps all. We've all seen teams to tight or up and lose because of it, I can easily see that happening to LSU. If we can build our typical half-time lead atmosphere may not matter either.
You're absolutely right, but look at who is covering the game: ESPN is not likely to say, "This game will be over early. No way the Bulldogs hang with the Tide for long." (i.e. "Don't watch this game)Call me a prophet...
Next week watch for this:
"Alabama has lost two in a row to Mississippi State. Alabama barely beat Kentucky and Ole Miss, and struggled against Tulane. Alabama has yet to play a good defense this year, and Mississippi State could possibly completely shut down the Tide's offense. Watch for the Bulldogs to pull off the upset in Tuscaloosa!"
Then a few weeks later...
"This Auburn team has nothing to lose. In a rivalry game that has been dominated by the Tigers recently, their defense will shut down 'Bama's offense. Alabama has not really played a truly great team all year, and has won in unspectacular fashion. Look for the Tigers to catch 'Bama looking ahead to the SEC championship game."
Does this make three SEC games in a row where we have been the popular upset pick?
Not so fast my friend:biggrin:, to Desmond's credit, Friday night they were discussing the best team and which team would beat all the others regardless of record, he said Alabama:conf2: ...Speaking of "ESPN talking heads"..
Desmond Howard just called Mark Ingram a "scat back"...
I don't know about you guys but a scat back to me is a Johnathan Lowe/Terry Grant type..
I wish they would study the teams before they talk about them.
