I wonder how much input Gus had in Arkansas' offense. Damian Williams played WR for Gus in highschool and has since transferred to USCw I believe. It seemed pretty sneaky when Nutt hired Gus last year as many felt it was just to get the players from Springdale. UF had commitments from Damien Williams and Ben Cleveland before Gus was hired. They changed their minds and signed with Ark. after Gus was hired.

Nutt is starting his usual 3 to 4 year skid where they`ll want to fire him again and he`ll come back after those years with a senior laden class on the O-line, compete for the SEC west, save his job, then start another skid. Nutt goes through this cycle pretty regular.

Well, if he stays he probably makes Nutt much better and continues to save his job. If he leaves now and makes it look like he was pressured out by Nutt, the pressure on Nutt will only increase. It is probably the case that with Saban at Alabama, Nutt will lose to LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and possibly some other teams from the SEC. That would be the end of hum, and Malzahn could return triumphant.
Last time i checked, He still has this guy. I forgot his name. Oh wait DARREN MCFADDEN, and his friend felix jones. I have dead relatives that could coach those two to atleast 8 wins.

Don't get me wrong, i think houston nutt is a terrible coach, but i seem to remember winning an SEC championship with freakin MIKE DUBOSE. mike had this guy, i dont know if you rembember him, but he was number 37. he was the MVP of the NFL last year.

Wow. Is Nutt your brother or something? LSU beat Arkansas and will beat them again next year. While I would love to see Auburn go down again to them, I dont really see it happen. We were a kick (3 actually) away from beating them on the road, and it goes without saying that I think we will be better next year. They do not play Florida, but they do play South Carolina who is getting better every year. Tennessee will always be a tough game for them. Yes we won with Alexander, but we also had a vetern offensive line, some good play makers on offense, a confident qb, and a not too shabby defense. You really think next year's Arkansas team will be as good as that team? This was there 1999. And frankly, the sarcasm does not add weight to your argument.
arkansas defense aint too bad either. I'm not really too sure how it will be losing potential top 5 pick Jamaal anderson. Also i think Chris Houston is graduating, and that middle linebacker, i cant spell his name so i wont try. Almost all (if not all) of Arkansas offense is coming back. I think they will be alot better from the QB position next year with Mustaine having more experience there. Their defensive recruiting over the last few years has been very good. I think they have a shot to win 8-10 games again next year.

I apologize for the excessive sarcasm. sometimes i get carried away. :)

Darren Mcfadden is the best player in the SEC and possibly the best player in all of college football. Felix jones is the second best back in the SEC. They will be pretty good next year. Tougher road schedule, so i dont know about repeating.

I was waiting to see if anything hit the fan over in Arkansas, considering how many times CHN's name kept coming up in our coaching search... apparently from Nutt, himself.

What a mess. Thank goodness we finally cleaned ours up.

Watch what happens over the next week with recruiting...you'll see the Saban's of the world and the other recruiting sharks begin to cirlce the top recruits in that area too. Phat Phil will likely lumber he big butt over there and pick up one or two as well.

I wouldn't be too sure everything is done yet. The media seems to have a problem jumping the gun on coaching searches, but it will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out.

It's about time that some other SEC school jumped back into the picture to steal our negative spotlight for a change. I was about ready to puke if I heard another journalist take a jab at Alabama or Saban. Now, the only thing they got on us is some drunk lady that wants to go bo-len.

As for the subject at hand, this is going to put a real dent on the Hogs putting together a decent recruiting class with any kid on Offense.

For Malzahn to leave Arkansas for Tulsa would be idiotic. What is more idiotic about this whole situation is I think Gus still believes he is in a high school environment. Look at how all this has been playing out up there over the last couple of months. Parents involved, airing differences in the media, going over people's heads...sounds like a typical small town soap opera of parents/boosters sticking their noses into the athletics and where they don't belong.

What is sad about the whole thing, IMO, is that Nutt was stupid enough not to take the Nebraska gig when it was his to turn down and now he has to go through this crap. Like the guy or not, this situation is ridiculous. If the people of the great state of Arkansas think that getting rid of Nutt and replacing him with Malzahn is going to cure their ills, I think they are sadly mistaken. IMO, if Malzahn were to somehow take that program over it will be the beginning of the end. Thank God it is not us having to deal with it.

Let me just go ahead and apologize to any Bama brethren I have criticized about their reactions during the Shula era. The stuff being said on the Arkansas board is PATHETIC. There are seriously talking about how they are Tulsa fans now. Can you imagine if one of our assistant coaches went to Troy? Do you think any Bama fans would say similar things? Everyone should check it out. It is an eye opening thing.
I would have thrown a party had Rader moved to Troy.

Since DW has already transferred and rumor about Mustain looking around, they had to have been promised something (assuming more of a passing game and a lot of PT). This just reinforces the idea that you want kids at your school who want to be there, not for PT or a coach, but for the school itself. Congrats on the NC, it makes the rest of the SEC look good!

Looks like it is official - ESPN

After only one season at Arkansas, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn will leave the program for Tulsa.

"Gus and I go way back with the spread offense and no-huddle," Tulsa coach Todd Graham said Monday. "I said to Gus, 'You need to come on board here.'"

Malzahn, who made a successful transition from Springdale (Ark.) High School to the Razorbacks, helping the team to a 10-4 record, will join Graham's staff as co-offensive coordinator.
