Yeah... I'd hope so. Saban's been coaching 17 more years. You'd hope he'd have an advantage in the "championships" stat. I mean, the scorecard would also read Larry Coker: 1, Gus Malzahn 0.I'm guessing 4 NCs to Malzahn's 0 as a head coach.

Feel free to leave, but the fact that auburn's defense is 3rd in the SEC means they have no defense.![]()
But when those guys get into the game, they don't get experience running the defense or the offense. The plays seem very generic. Why not throw a backup CB or S or WR or LB out with the 1s during the first half? Gives the starter a rest for a few plays with giving the younger guys the rep.He does, but only when the gamees are no longer in doubt. This is a price that you pay when you are a national title contender every year. Every game matters.
I think the answer to that is it only takes one or two big breakdowns to alter the outcome. Arguably our best DB had two breakdowns against OM and it cost the team 2 scores and the lead. That's not to bash him. I like the way Collins plays, but I think the younger players are more likely to make more of those mis-reads and cost more big plays. I'm just speculating though. But when those guys get into the game, they don't get experience running the defense or the offense. The plays seem very generic. Next year, Alabama will break in at least one new safety and the starting WRs will all be new. Why not get some guys reps instead of throwing them to the wolves against Wisconsin next September?
No need to get too bent out of shape on his "opinion." As someone else alluded, "He's hedging his bets" and being "controversial" all at once. He's winning now with this controversial prediction and when the game rolls around in November he's hoping Gus pulls the upset and if not, he's hoping most will forget what he's saying now.
Time will tell.
If CNS wins in November, it will be considered that "order" has been restored.
If Gus pulls off the upset in BDS, especially if we are both still in the west race at the time, every Bama board on the interwebs will simultaneously blow up.
It'll be a good time for all of us to go to a third world country on a mission trip or humanitarian relief.![]()
I agree, but if you both win out, Alabama will be favored and many of those people will be believers again.I think we're the only ones who thinks it would be an upset. Most people think Auburn is better than us right now.
This may be splitting hairs, but IMO Bama will always be favored at home. IIRC, in 2010 Bama (with 2 losses) was favored over the Barn (undefeated). Technically, that game was an upset.I think we're the only ones who thinks it would be an upset. Most people think Auburn is better than us right now.
But at that point Auburn hadn't earned much respect from Vegas. I'd be willing to bet if they played today at home we could be the dogs. This may be splitting hairs, but IMO Bama will always be favored at home. I only see us being dogs in one game right now and that's MSU. A lot of people were scratching their heads when Vegas listed us as only a 4.5 favorite over ole miss. Vegas line makers take way more into account than an average fan does in order to make an even betting situation. Things they would take in to account if the game was this week would be home field adv, the revenge motivation, and the fact auburn's offense has been mediocre this year. If I was to guess the opening line would be bama -3.5But at that point Auburn hadn't earned much respect from Vegas. I'd be willing to bet if they played today at home we could be the dogs.
That is very true and it could be just as you say if:Too many big games between now and Iron Bowl for both teams.
Thoughts/opinions may change 180* several times between now and Nov 29
He points to Georgia's Mark Richt, LSU's Les Miles, South Carolina's Steve Spurrier, Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin and Urban Meyer when he was at Florida as examples throughout Saban's career at Alabama.
IMO, the problem in the games we lost wasn't the HUNH or spread, it was the fact those teams had Heisman winning QBs. Tebow, Cam, and Manziel will give any defense fits no matter the offense they are running..The stupid idea is that Saban somehow has a "problem" with the HUNH. For the life of me, I can't figure out where this myth comes from. We did pretty good against MSU's team yesterday. We're 2-1 against aTm and lost the first one. I mean, I can't figure out where the "logic" is coming from to say we have trouble with the HUNH.
We lost the Iron Bowl because of NOTHING to do with HUNH but because OUR OFFENSE failed to cash in three red zone opportunities in the fourth quarter. If we had only gone 1 for 3, we win the game.
Pretty much.. I guess the media isn't smart enough to think like thatIMO, the problem in the games we lost wasn't the HUNH or spread, it was the fact those teams had Heisman winning QBs. Tebow, Cam, and Manziel will give any defense fits no matter the offense they are running..
