No, never have, but on some earlier posts.....re the 'divided family' thing---

my middle daughter is a junior at Auburn, majoring in "WildLife Sciences & Forestry"
(what a great major and, really, a great place for it!)

my youngest is a freshman at Bama with a scholarship in Dance!

...they both love where they are, and I am proud of them both, and happy as I can be! BUT, older one knows that I bleed Crimson!

Always enjoy your calls, John. You're a good counterweight to that idiot Bobby from Homewood.
Thanks for the compliment.

Bobby is fun to poke at. He's like the dork in high school that still maintained his GI Joe collection as a teenager. Basically he's stuck at an emotional maturity level of about 15 years old.

Bobby actually went to Alabama for a few months. After experiencing total rejection from the coeds because of his mullet-cut and his juvenile personality he dropped out of school.

It's been a few years for me but , I believe it used to be about 2,000 listeners per caller for every 15 minute period . So , the poll should turn out to be an overwhelming - no .
It isn't that low a percentage. You also need to consider that asking this question from a population of those who would post on an internet message board would be a lot higher. I have called a sports radio show one time in my life, although sometimes it is tempting. It wasn't Finebaum.

Actually I used a very conservative # . While it has been a few years since I was involved , I think that 2,000 is a low # . It may actually be 8,000 . I just can't be sure of my memory and it's 1 of 3-5 #'s based on one particular market .

That being said , Yes "we" are a different "pool" and that would suggest higher results in the "yes vote catergory" but , still a heavy overall lean to "no" . It is playing out to be about what one would expect - a heavy lean to "No" .

Here's a tough and equally useless thought . How high is the % of voters to viewers for this poll ? :conf3:

Anyway , 2,000 is still the smallest of the 3 to 5 #'s that applied to the market that I'm in .

Called in before. Email him regularly. Great guy. People are so sensitive until he turns out to be right, and then all of the sudden they agree with him. Twelve months ago everyone was angry that he was criticizing Shula for not being a disciplinarian. Now? Well you know the story.
not everyone..........

Never called Finebaum's show or any other sports show. I've only ever listened to Finebaum twice in my life and wasn't terribly impressed. I don't love him or hate him, just don't care one way or the other about his opinions.

I don't liten to any talk radio. Give me classic country or give me death. That, and an occasional dose of 60's rock!

I've known Finebaum for a while.

He has his schtick, which is often to stir the pot to generate ratings. On the other hand he is a very good interviewer, and has done Bama a favor on more than one occasion.

Finebaum's constant harping on the unfairness of the NCAA's persecution of Alabama, and his exposure of that whole sordid process, is one of the reasons the NCAA finally had to back down, and also one of the reasons that a very anti-Bama Roy Kramer had to resign from his job.

It has also forced UT to at least build a fence around that animal farm they call a football program.

I don't get to catch him much living here in Atlanta. But I wouldn't want to call in since I'd Probably get mad and start sounding like Phyliss or the Ramp Lady.

Never called in to the Finebaum show. I think the previous post is right it is schtick and meant to be pure entertainment. If you can understand that basic tenant you can listen and not get totally bent out of shape. Bobby and I-man are idiots but are aired for a reason. They (Bobby & I-Man) are the hook to snag the listeners and prompt a few more callers who then in turn comment or what they said. They also give Barners hope that there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. If you notice, nether of them contribute much to the intelligent discussion of Auburn football rather they devote all of their time cracking on UA. Neither sound as if they have much of a life past the daily call to Finebaum. Like him or not, Finebaum has parlayed his little schtick in to a 6 figure machine.

Never called in before, but I love the show. It's not like those other "dry" sports talk shows you find around here. You know the ones: "our next guest is the head janitor at the UAB athletic deptartment". It's going to be interesting to have Finebaum on JOX. Especially since one of their main guys(Coulter) filed a lawsuit against him about ten years ago.

Chris,

I hated doing that. It was like eating one of your young.

After that I stomped Bobby's head in during the semi-finals, but the format was designed to get Shane and Bobby into the finals.

Keep it cool down on the coast!

I called in one time and it was only because I got angry at a guest. PF had some guy from the Montgomery Biscuits in and he was saying that the stadium would not cost the citizens of Montgomery a dime since it was coming from a rental car/hotel tax. I called and asked him, "If the money from that tax wasn't going to the stadium where would it go?" He didn't have an answer and I told him "my point being that it WILL cost the people of Montgomery money because they could use that money for something useful rather than a baseball stadium owned by private individuals."

Finebaun is a clown and his main callers are not very football savvy. More people are eating him up right now while he is in love with Saban. but that will change soon enough when he starts dogging CNS's wife or his style or whatever and CNS quits giving him interviews. Then everyone will see his ugly side again. He is a TN homer and likes to see either program in Alabama struggle. He carried the water for the NCAA when we were under investigation but would hardly mention Tennessee and their violations. I think him and Jimmy Wigfield in mobile were the two that kept the Memphis story in the forefront. This is reason enough to not support him. Nobody is asking for a homer but he just went over the top with his reporting. I dont recall any TN reporters that tried to bury their program like he attacked Bama.
