Game Thread: Hawaii vs Notre Dang

Well, I'm happy UH got exposed again in a bowl game. I really don't have any problem with ND since Coach Bryant is a member of the Rockne Coaching Family Tree. Glad they won.

It was a good example of there being too many bowl games. Neither team had any business playing in a bowl. Hawaii finished below Louisiana Tech and Nevada and doesn't seem like a team that could hang with any but the very worse SEC teams (if at all). Their defense was a joke... you'd think they could at least stop the deep pass. They gave it to Notre Dame. Can't be too impressed with Notre Dame either because their accomplishments were pretty much limited to having a gun run and throwing the ball as far as they could and sacking a Hawaii quarterback that doesn't know how to throw the ball away.

In regards to the game, I was watching with my best friend's father - an ND alum. It was funny watching him squirm even with the Irish up 5 touchdowns. I guess blowing several multi-touchdown leads in one season will do that to you. Also, Hawai'i's #62 was a straight up thug. Two personal fouls for late hits, and he actually did it a third time and didn't get caught. #11 Grimes on ND couldn't keep his mouth shut, either. ND has no real running game and rarely uses any sort of misdirection, luckily for them Clausen was on his game and the Hawai'i secondary was abysmal.

Certainly I would have. There are more intelligent methods of expressing your dislike for a school than comparing it to an extremist group that has murdered thousands of Americans. I go to Alabama. My mother, uncle, and grandfather went to Notre Dame. Yes, perhaps I am quicker to defend them because of this fact, but that is tangential at best to my point.

It doesn't get any easier for them next season, they will be lucky to win 7 or 8 games on 09.

That game was sad. And the media frenzy going into next season, the Dome being "back" and similar nonsense, makes my stomach churn just thinking about it. Still, ND has a bunch of cream puffs and "down" teams on the schedule in 2009 (Nevada, Washington, Washington State, Navy, Purdue and Stanford), a couple of teams that might - or might not - be halfway decent and/or get their respective craniums out of their fundaments (Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt and UConn), one good team (BC), and one perennially excellent team (USC). They should scrape out 7-8 wins fairly easily. If not, I'll chip in for a 1-way ticket from Gainesville to South Bend.

Notre Dame was so much more talented than Hawaii it was unbelievable. Makes me think Notre Dame coaching is much worse than originally thought.
