Great news, Padre! I have a buddy who went through that, and while it took some time, he’s now as good as new. Looking for the same result for you.
Surgery went well and he's home...has no idea how long this recovery will take. He thinks he can miss one game be back on Thursday! Ha...I'll let his Dad tell him it's 12 weeks and then 3 more months of PT, etc.I am doing great...Complete remission expected to last for 5-7 years.
However, my grandson Mac, age 10 ½, had an accident in a 4 wheeler and suffered a compound fracture of his upper right arm --- he is in surgery this am and should go home later. I hate it for him as he was going to pitch on his baseball team...something he had been anticipating. His Dad and Mom are kicking themselves for letting him ride with someone else...they were out in a rural area with other families cooking out, etc. My son really is upset with himself as he came "this close" to not letting him ride on it.
Prayers appreciated...at least he is left-handed.
Happy Thanksgiving! The Revlimid has caused a severe rash reaction through out my body. I was taking prednisone to alleviate it, but oncologist says that is not a good long term solution. So, have stopped both the Revlimid and the prednisone...I should be fine as the Revlimid is more preventative than anything else. Myeloma is a slow moving cancer...
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!
Whoa....so sorry to hear this, my brother.Well, the saga continues. My myeloma is doing fine as far as I know; but the rest of me....I felt bad starting July 4th...bronchitis, coughing , etc. On Monday the 7th I could not get up from the sofa/floor. Even my wife could not help me up. Called 911 lift assist and they insisted on taking me to the ER. While there pneumonia was confirmed and I was transported downtown t a major hospital. 4 days later I was released with a bucket load of medicines. I am much better now, but nowhere near normal.
What puzzles the MD's and myself is the ineffectiveness of the vaccines to help restore my immune system. I had the shingle and pneumonia shots and still developed both. If I get measles I am really going to be upset. The flu came from a para influenza virus -- and I have had several flu shots.
My working out, exercise,, etc., has to have helped, but I have really been knocked backwards. It will be interesting to see, how much at 74, I can recover. I am hoping a lot. On the good side I have lost @ 7lbs as nothing really tastes good, so I eat @ ⅓ to ½ of what I ate prior to this.
Stay safe out there....BTW, the medical professionals I met at all levels -- nurses, aides, etc, are top notch. What a joy...
A perfect attitude...I meet with my hematologist this week and am determined to find out if this "yo-you" health is my future.Whoa....so sorry to hear this, my brother.
I'm right behind you at 71 and have had mortality on my mind a lot over the past year or so. I'm trying to be honest about everything relating to my current lifestyle including diet and exercise.
It seems though no matter what one does.....you are still at risk for stuff you have no control over.
My philosophy is do what I can, try not to get too stressed over all of this, and most of all be grateful for every day and every minute you still have. So when your time is up hopefully you're more at peace with it.
I apologize if this sounds a little morbid - but we ain't getting any younger and at some point......
Sending prayers for your complete recovery, @Padreruf !![]()
