I DVRd it and just now watched it....without getting online to see who won.

I am so very proud to have him as a representative of our university. How many college sophomores get that emotional? And are gracious enough to thank ALL those people?

Congrats Mr. Ingram!

Hello I am a newbie as far as posting. I had to post on this thread though... I was in tears as well. God bless Mark! He has been through so much but is still a great kid. He makes me proud.

As the years have gone by and Alabama kept coming up short for the Heisman, I began to sort of trash talk the trophy. I used the old lines like, "Alabama plays as a team. We don't need the Heisman Trophy to validate our accomplishments." While watching the ceremony tonight with my 8 year old son and wife, it became clear to me that we still don't need the trophy to validate our accomplishments, but it feels pretty dang good to be a small part of a team with a Heisman winner. I began to tear up as my son was running through the house jumping up and down and realizing that we just witnessed history. This kid is an amazing player, but is an even more amazing person. Congrats to Mark, the team, and coaching staff.

I've been a Bama fan my whole life (32 years) - graduated from Bama in '02.
Been a lot of good moments ('92)...
For the most part, the last decade has been very lean with not many moments and a lot of grief we've been put through... but these past two years have been wonderful and I've never been more proud of a group of players!!!
Roll Tide, Mark. Keep up the AWESOME work. Thank you for the entire team, coaching staff, and all the LOYAL Bama fans!!!!
Proud to be an Alabama fan. Crimson Tide proud!!!:BigA:

Congrats to Mark Ingram for winning the Heisman. The first Crimson Tide player and the first sophmore running-back to win the award. Awesome accomplishment!

I am so very very proud of Mark Ingram and this team for winning this award. There are some out there who I think are yet to grasp the significance of him winning this award. While we have so many great players with their cleats and hand prints around Denny Chimes, and while so many great players and teams are recognized in the Bryant Museum, Mark will have his own chapter in the Bama history books. 30, 40, 50 years from now, we will still be celebrating Mark Ingram and his Heisman. This is really huge!

Words? I don't have many; MI had plenty, and was gracious and classy enough to thank absolutely everybody...trainers, teachers...I mean, has anyone ever thanked their teachers for winning the Heisman? This guy is nothing but class and talent, the University is honored to have him as their representative and (no dis to any previous Bama nominees), could not have had anyone better to be their first Heisman Trophy winner.
Thank you, Mark Ingram, for just being who you are; the Bama Nation couldn't be prouder.

Unbelievable! Now I don't have to listen to all those talking heads saying "You know Alabama has never had a Heisman Trophy winner"?

This is proof positive that those 3 stars don't mean a thing with the right team, the right coaching and the right player.

Great Job Mr. Ingram; you made Alabama Football History.

:BigA: ROLL TIDE!

I'm still shocked he won. I've gotten so used to all things Alabama being snubbed, looked down on, and falling short for so long, it's hard to believe Mark won the flippin' Heisman trophy.

Wow! That's just awesome!

Congratulations to Mark, his family, the team and the coaches. It truly was a team effort.

Well done![/QUOTE

Couldn't say it better myself. Congrats Mark and the entire Bama team!!!

Wow. I was wrong. Those northern sports folks did vote for Mark...guess it helped that he was from Michigan! But then again, he was the BEST one in there, and deserves it as well. RTR Mark, great job!

Its actually quite ironic that for all the "northern yankee bias" Alabama has experienced in the past, it was the northern voters and not the southern ones that gave Alabama their first Heisman winner.
Its clear this time around, the jealousy and bias lay within the confines of the southeastern conference and was prevalant amongst the rival states.
I would also point out that Tebow being a participant in the voting probably pulled some votes from Ingram, just as possibly Suh pulled some from McCoy and/or Gerhart.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but during the show last night, Tebow was unwilling to reveal to McCoy whom he voted for. I'd like to believe, being the realist that he is, that he actually voted for Ingram. Tebow definitely had a front row seat for one of Ingram's best performances.
