What's up Bama! Just wanted to stop by and check yall out, since we might wind up in New Orleans next January. Got nothing but respect for the Tide, yall were great in Norman in 02 and heard nothing but great reviews from OU fans who traveled to Tuscaloosa in 03.

I do have a few questions for you guys:

1. How were you treated by the Texass fans at the NC game?
2. Are you that loyal to the SEC that you rooted for Auburn & Florida in their NC games?
3. If the Big 12 does fall apart, would you want Oklahoma to join the SEC?

If anyone of you wants to join us you're more than welcome to come talk smack at

Land Thieves

I do have to leave yall with two things, first:

Love it!

Hopefully, a rematch will be that epic!

Peace!

Wow. Can't believe a new thread has to be approved by a mod before it's posted. That's weak.

Man, you had to bring up that 2002 game. I thought we were going to pull that one out but that blasted shovel pass did us in late. Of course the Watts fumble didn't help matters much either. Hope we can schedule a game or home/home against you guys again soon. I always enjoy that match up.

First things first: You had a promising start with your first post, might have blown it with your second. Welcome to TideFans, the best Bama board on the net. What makes it the best Bama board is that this is not a free-for-all and smack is not aloud - just good, knowledgeable football discussion. The mods here do a GREAT job of keeping things orderly and only being noticed when they have to be - sort of like a good officiating crew. Read the board FAQ, and be mindful of house rules and you'll have a good visit, welcome by all. You may actually choose to stay for awhile as a regular. We have several Sooner fans who post regularly. Just don't go busting up into someone else's house and criticize its occupants right out of the gate, or your stay may end up a short one.

Generally, I have nothing but respect for Oklahoma and Sooner fans also. Had several good friends who were Sooners, respect the tradition of excellence and enjoyed the home and home from a few years ago. Would LOVE to see a Bama/Oklahoma BCSNCG, and I think the odds are fairly good that that might happen this coming season. Should be epic. Of course, when we met earlier this decade, we were down during that period and you guys were at the top of your game, so I can't say I'm too happy that we lost. BUT, I think we represented well, and I was pleased that we made it as close as we did. As for your questions...

1. I didn't go to the game, so can't speak to that. I know a couple of horn fans - one works for me, the other's my step-mother in law. Neither was too annoying. But of course that is probably because, as I said, one works for me and the other's my step-mother in law. I've heard that those Bama fans that went to the game didn't come away with a good impression of the horns, but I'll let them speak to that.
2. I have zero SEC loyalty. I'm a Bama fan first, and a college football fan second. If I have a hobby, it's following CFB and predicting game outcomes. And I don't like to be wrong. So if Bama's not involved, I pull for the team that I think will win...UNLESS... it's Auburn playing, in which case I hope they get mud-stomped, and I don't care who the opponent is. It could be Notre Dame, and I hope they give the cow college a good old-fashioned irish beatdown. SEC loyalty? Whatever.
3. I'd LOVE Oklahoma to join the SEC. A while back when everyone was expecting a B12 implosion, I was really hoping to grab Oklahoma and A&M. Could move Auburn to the SEC E and have a 14-team super-conference.

Welcome in to the greatest Bama board. Can't talk on 1. didn't get to go 2. A pot of gold couldn't make me pull for Aubarn. The rest of the SEC I usually will pull for, but not necessarily loyal to the SEC. 3. Absolutly would love Oklahoma in the SEC (could you get rid of Aubarn in exchange) Hop on in and put in your 2 cents worth . This board is cleanly run and we like it that way.

Hello OU fan. I got respect for the Oklahoma program...I do enjoy watching them play and even pull for them. I would love to see the two teams in the 2011 NC game!
1. How were you treated by the Texas fans at the NC game? TX fans are hillarious with their No. 1 rated defense and the lack of a need for a running game. We saw how that turned out. I do have a few TX friends that are ok but they still wouldn't comment after the game.
2. Are you that loyal to the SEC that you rooted for Auburn & Florida in their NC games? No loyalty here and no way I could pull for a barner. The FL program is ok by me and I like the way their AD has enjoyed success in both football and basketball. Thats what I want to see from BAMA.
3. If the Big 12 does fall apart, would you want Oklahoma to join the SEC? If I could have my pick of the teams to join the SEC, I'd put OU in the west and either FSU or VA Tech in the east.

Settle down there, partner. We try to run a tight ship around here. Complaining about it with post #2 is probably not the best way to endear yourself.

As for something you asked in your very good first post, I didn't go to the BCSCG, but we had a good number of Texas posters to visit our site leading up to the game. Some of them made it; most of them didn't. The majority of them didn't know how to comport themselves appropriately and were shown the door. I generally find Texas fans unendurable. Oklahoma fans usually do pretty well 'round these parts. Our fan bases are very similar.

Personally, I will pull for certain SEC teams in bowl games and championship games. I never pull for the barn, period. Tennessee has to be playing Auburn for me to pull for them, and even then it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

When the Big XII falls apart, I'd be fine with OU coming to the SEC. I was very hopeful aTm would come in during the shake-up y'all recently had, but alas, they just couldn't find their backbone.

OU wouldn't be my 1st choice but they would be OK.

Didn't go so don't know.

Yes. I'm one of the few Bama fans who pulled for both Florida and Auburn during their NC games.

3. If the Big 12 does fall apart, would you want Oklahoma to join the SEC?
I prefer aTm and VaTech. Nothing against OK... I actually like OK... but I dunno that OU brings enough new TV sets to the table.

If anyone of you wants to join us you're more than welcome to come talk smack at ...

Not sure what you're talking about. We don't pre-approve threads. You may have tried to post before you were accepted. At any rate, we don't discuss technical issues on the football forum. Feel free to PM me...

1. I had two young UTexas college guys sitting in front of me. They were very cocky and arrogant prior to the game. They asked me how I could be so calm before the game and my reply was that I had attended six national championship games and this was nothing really new to me. By halftime, the Texas boys had given up and left their seats.
2. Fine with Florida winning National Championship, couldn 't force myself to pull for Auburn.
3. OK would be o.k.

As to question 2, since I'm from the South and Bama plays in the SEC, I tend to pull for SEC teams. The exceptions to that rule are UT and Auburn. Fulmer is an ugly word to me, and Auburn...well, there's just nothing to say.

I have always liked Oklahoma, but I don't want them in the SEC, just because I think the SEC is competitive enough as it is.

1. How were you treated by the Texass fans at the NC game?
Condescendingly before the game. For the most part, ignored afterward. Heard the first, "If Colt hadn't gotten hurt...." before the game was over. Heard complaints about running up the score after we ran up the middle four (?) times. Not like we were throwing passes off double-reverses against UT's fourth string. Came away with the general impression that they're over-entitled spoiled brats who demand treatment from others that they're not willing to grant themselves. Thoroughly underwhelmed and disappointed in what I had expected would be a class group.

2. Are you that loyal to the SEC that you rooted for Auburn & Florida in their NC games?
Rooted for Florida because I was fed up with the Big 10 (11? 12? No, wait, that name's taken....whatever.). Didn't watch the Oregon - AU game. Figured it was professional, not college, football.

3. If the Big 12 does fall apart, would you want Oklahoma to join the SEC?
Absolutely. Can't believe your administration decided to stick with UT's dictation of terms to everybody else. You'll be an equal partner in all the administrative stuff, and probably superior to most of the conference on the field. You would, however, face more of a week-to-week grind than you're used to.

A bit of friendly advice....don't talk smack here or advertise sites that do. The mods don't like it, won't put up with it, and that's why most of us in the TF army are here. Look up wishbonesooner's posts, and you'll get the drift.

I do have to leave yall with two things, first:

Thanks for the reminder of UT.

Don't rub 2002 in on our board. I was in Norman in 2002, and found the OU fans to be great. I don't think most of the ones I ran into would have posted something like the second picture when they were guests in somebody else's house.

The Oklahoma City newspaper wrote a column about the Bama fans staying after the game chanting, "Roll Tide....Roll Tide," and admiringly calle it eerie. Having been in Los Angeles when we got whipped by UCLA and got our faces rubbed in it by a group that has perpetually under-achieved, I appreciated the comments from true college football royalty.

Always had good encounters with OU fans, both in Norman and Tuscaloosa, tough losses though both were.

Hope we get to meet again soon. I'm sure you'll receive a picture of the scoreboard, for memory's sake if nothing else.

To question #3, I think OU would be a great addition to the SEC, even though the SEC is tough enough as it is.
But I don't think it will ever happen, because your own fans admit that OU has to stay tied to UT's coattail. Wherever UT goes, OU has to go too.

^^^^ Good replys from all! Didn't know what kind of board this was when I joined so I wanted to test the waters, you feel me? I know now and am more than happy to abide by the rules of the board.

Mods, I guess I did do something wrong. If I have future issues I'll let you know.

4Q Basket Case, I couldn't have said it better:

Bingo! I hate Texas fans with everything I am. I'll never forget, I was 10 or 11, we were on vacation to Padre Island I was in the hotel elevator wearing an OU hat and some jerk 40 year old Longhorn fan actually threatened me. So happy when yall whooped em.

Welcome. I'd welcome OU in the SEC. The only thing that concerned me was talk of bringing OK State with them as some kind of package and I would not like to see that.

First of all, welcome. 1. I did go to the BCSNCG. I will say UT fans didn't have a chance to mouth off much during or after the game. I do have some friends and family who are Texas fans and they fall under the "obnoxious" category. Of course, I think most Texans mistakenly feel they are better than everyone else for some reason.
2. I don't pull for aubarn if it was a game of checkers. I am a SEC fan in general. I will pull for the SEC during the bowl games. I don't mind when Tennessee loses either.
3. I wouldn't mind having OU in the SEC. Do you think OU would want to join the SEC? That might separate the rivalry with Texas. SEC will be tougher than the PAnsey 12. We really only have one weak team, Vandy. Every other team can and will beat you if you aren't at your best.

That wouldn't happen. OU has absolutely no incentive to drag Stillwater with them. I'm not sure what the Iron Bowl record is but Bedlam is the most lopsided series in college football. 82-16-7 in favor of the Sooners. The only thing that would bum me out if Bedlam became no more is the fact that OU wouldn't get to whoop lil brother for the 100th time. I mean, how cool would a shirt be that said: "Bedlam, A century of Crimson dominance."?

As for the Big 12, I really hope that it survives and eventually can add two teams. If I could just wave a magic wand, Arkansas and Notre Dame would join. I don't think there's any real chance to steal Arky but if we did, I'd be happy to add Wyoming!

To answer your questions 1. I didn't go to the game, I am just a broke college student, hopefully one day I will be able to attend a National Championship game. 2. I am not what you would call a full blown SEC loyalist but I do tend to pull for the SEC in bowl games. I will never pull for Auburn though not under any circumstance, I do not respect the way they run their program. 3. I have nothiing against Oklahoma, I just do not want college football to have just 2 or 3 power conferences. I think college football is great the way it is now. I think the SEC is tough enough as it is.

First, Welcome to our board...absolutely one of the best around! Now on to your questions:

1) I didn't go to the game but have read where several people had issues with their fan base...I know several Tx fans and they remind me of Auburn fans.

2) I am loyal to the SEC for the most part but I do have teams that I root for outside of the SEC.....Oklahoma being one of them!

3) I would enjoy OK coming to the SEC...even though the SEC is tough as is, OK could do nothing but make it tougher!!! Plus if CFL ever went to a playoff, you would think the SEC would get considerations for additional playoff spots just based on the toughness of the conference....Plus, I would like to trade the Auburn rivalry with an Oklahoma rivalry...I truely believe that we are two of the top 5 college football traditions across the board and the fan bases act with lots of class!! Auburn fans just like to gripe about dead trees a stuff...LOL:)
