How about a song called Magnolia?
There are lots of Magnolia's, but I'm going to say J.J. Cale again.

Let's go with lyrics:

Here is an oldie but goodie and should be easy:

"Far across deep blue waters lived an old German's daughter"

Genre: Country

A lyric I always liked was:

"Oh country girl, won't you come to me tonight.
Oh country girl, smother me with delight!"

Does anyone know the song and the band?

Genre: country rock

I think Peter Gabriel did a song by that name, but I never listened to him much so I could be wrong.
I think your right. I wanted someone else to get an answer! I don't think there actually anyone else playing!

Oh, Ozark Mountain Daredevils!

I don't know nearly as much about country music. I never paid much attention to Roger Waters either. There used to be a guy they called the Singing Brakeman. Jimmie Rodgers, but I have no idea if he sang anything like that or not.

Who did 3rd Rate Romance?

country rock
Amazing Rhythm Aces.

(full disclosure: I had guessed the Bellamy Bros., but my curiosity overcame me & I cheated. *holds out wrist to be slapped* *bows head in shame*)

*sings* "low-rent rendezvous..." (I remembered that all by myself! Some great lyrics in that song.)

*renews promise to not cheat any more*

Patti Boyd, George Harrisons wife
ding, ding, ding! You are correct...Eric Clapton (the guitar god) wrote the song for Pattie Boyd (at the time George Harrison's wife). Pattie has written a book about her life being married to George Harrison (former Beatle) and then later to Eric Clapton.

For extra extra credit: there were two more famous songs written for Pattie Boyd...what were they?
