So I have a question? Do you think at this point with the dead period about to begin, that CNS already knows with a great degree of certainty which recruits we get and which ones we lose out on? I just wonder how often he is thrown for a loop and completely suprised. I would think, not much.
At this point, I would think there would be very little surprise, if any.

One more final thought on Myles...

I definitely think he is still in play, and probably not the lock that we had hoped a few days ago. However (and I'm going to disagree a bit with RTO here), I feel really good about our chances against UT with him. The Vols are, if anything, imploding down the stretch in recruiting, and they've already lost one recruit to Auburn and may very well lose another one. And neither of those two guys were scrubs either, they are good prospects.

And with that in mind, if that mega-recruiting staff is having pure hell just trying to futily hang on to their current commitments, I see it being very difficult for them to make up ground out of nowhere and snag Myles away from Alabama and LSU. Unless he's just one of these kids that will go to Tennessee regardless -- and I don't see that -- I think we probably still have the Alabama v. LSU battle that was long anticipated.

Thanks you guys are a doing a great job!:BigA:

Getting Dre Kirkpatrick, Kendall Kelly, Tana Patrick, Brandon Moore, Bobby Massie, and Eddie Lacy would be getting two 5* and four 4* and a fantastic finish for anyone. Anything else is just putting the icing on thicker.
I agree with what another poster said ( NSD is Nick Saban Day)

If I had a son who was a recruit I would tell him on day one to listen to what each staff says about their school but ignore anything they say about a rival school. they have all the motivation in the world to lie and little if any reason not to. Basically its not against NCAA rules to lie your face off to these kids. I think for some recruits this is a big turnoff, but it seems many folks now believe the dirtier you play the better. We shall see if it works long term.

Whups..:) I guess I need to ask LCN then. ;) LCN, what do you think??
I hope the results are similar :) "91 was a heck of a finish . Coach Stallings closed out with guys like Palmer , Royal , Jon Stevenson and Sherman Williams among others . There were a lot of guys from that class who ended up in the NFL . One of them was from my old high school - Bryan Thornton from Jeff Davis here in Montgomery . He started for a few years @ NT for the Chargers .

Yes . Other than a couple of exceptions , the coaches usually know to a near certainty how things will shake out well before the Super Bowl kicks .

Wastedmason , I mentioned Bryan Thornton but , I was really thinking about his brother George . It turns out that Bryan actually was a member of the '91 class but , George was who played for the Chargers . I'm in age denial because I went to school with George and he signed with Bama in 1987 .

George Teague('89) and Marvin Humphries('83)also played their high school ball at Jeff Davis as did a 3rd Thornton named Gorman . Gorman signed with Bama in 1996 but , never qualified . It was a shame because Gorman Thornton was as good a TE prospect as I've ever seen .

He was better than Robert (barn) Johnson('98-?) who - you guessed it - also played at Jeff Davis . There are others I'm not thinking of but , toss in Davern (barn/Troy) Williams('98) along with Sidney (clemson) Moncrief('87-?) and Jeff Davis had quite a nice run of putting out some great players from 87-98 .

So UTK and UF are telling these 18 year old kids and their parents that we will be on probation soon? Can we prove that? Could our staff get proof that that's what these kids are being told, because this kind of backstabbing and aggresiveness is what came close to bringing down this conference just a decade ago when over half of us were put on probation in about a five year period. What the heck is that? Can you not just show off your school and your own program and win kids over? You have to make up lies and lies and more lies to try and influence someone over to your side?

It's not his way, but if I were CNS I would get every kid told something like this to put it down on paper and I would send it to the schools involved and to the SEC offices and if things didn't calm down I'd send it to espn and to the other national media outlets. You push my back up against the wall and I am going to come out swinging.

jmo, but this stinks. This whole process seems to be getting uglier by the year. Of course, in the recent past we would just fight it out for a guy or two in-state and never really went after the regional or national big dogs, so some of this is to be expected, but this is going to get out of hand if cooler heads don't deal with it.

I remember that signing day having a few surprises. Seems like Palmer was thought to be an FSU lock, or it could have been for the barn? My memory is fast fading, to much alcohol, lol! Can you recall where we finished in the rankings that year? Seems like it was a top 3 finish nationally.

I think some information from Darren Myles recruitment needs to be said because UT is not coming from nowhere as it would seem.

Darren Myles' father is a coach. Two of his former players are Jamal Lewis and Inky Johnson, both former UT players. So he has attended UT practices in the past with his father. Also, at least in the past, Myles' father had a very close friend in the UT administrative department (not sure if he is still there).

So while Fulmer was there, UT was always going to be a factor in his recruitment. With his firing, UT lost ground. So, they had ground to make up, but based on the past relationship with the University it wasn't as far as people think.

I just wanted to make sure this was put out there again because I think most of us Bama fans think UT has magically appeared on the radar, but they were always there.

BET,

who did the Vols lose to the barn??
I was referring to OT Aubrey Phillips of Olive Branch (teammate of Rod Woodson). He was / is a Tennessee commitment who visited Auburn this past weekend, and though he hasn't officially de-committed just yet, it now seems like he will sign with the Tigers come NSD.

It's also not hurting their cause that they recently got a commitment from one of Phillips' high school teammates.

Interesting. I was unaware of that Outlaw, that definitely changes my outlook on Myles.

I will throw a few things out there as well.

Trent sticks with Bama. Latest article on Trent talks about how his mom is good friends with Dre Kirkpatrick's mom and they talk all the time. I think Trent has always been solid but he is a nice kid who wants to please people and the smooth talking coaches just have him confused. But when they aren't around he thinks about it and talks to the people around him, he always comes back to Bama. And of course you factor in the relationships he has with our players, coaches, and recruits and the final visit from our coaches and you have one conclusion. He's all Bama.

The Massie situation is an interesting one. Apparently some OM boosters are putting out a lot of not so solid information that put some smoke out there. After a little digging it appears that there isn't a lot of fire behind all the smoke. Rodney Orr still says Massie ends up at Bama, with Ole Miss trying their hardest to change it. I agree with Rodney.

Rodney also says his sources at LSU said the Sentimore committed to LSU this weekend. There has been no confirmation yet publicly but Rodney is not optimistic. If this is true then good luck to the kid and I hope he never wins a game. Except maybe Auburn.

Good rundown though RTO. Would love to get Greg Reid. Still a bit of a longshot but it could happen.

The Vols are worried about David Oku as well. Took a visit to AU and apparently loved it. I know, I know. I have no idea why.
