We see deer all the time around Wetumpka. They're more active in the fall and winter. I've hit several over the years. I had to stop and put one out of her misery with my 38. She had a broken back and I just couldn't leave her laying there...

We don't have that problem here in Saudi. People do, however, routinely hit camels. Most of the time, they are just standing in the middle of the highway and the body comes right thru the windshield.

I have those deer wistles mounted on the front bumper of my car, I bought them at Autozone. My prior job I would drive to work at 6 am and in the winter it was still dark and on my way to work I would drive on the highway and there would be deer all over. I am lucky that I live closer than my prior job and I start later. I hit one back in 1990 with a Nissan Sentra and it damaged my driver side fender and I couldn't hardly open my driver side door. When I stopped, the deer ran away like nothing even happened. That was scary.

A neighbor of mine had those deer whistles mounted on his truck. I guess the deer couldn't hear because it got hit anyway. Guess where the deer hit? You got it. Right on one of those whistles.

Was driving home yesterday afternoon when about 150 yards ahead of me young deer trotted across the 4-lane road to my office. Lots of deer in my area.

I'm gonna go out on a limb & predict that a camel does a *lot* more damage to a car moving @ road speed than a deer (which does a lot of damage itself). And I'm not seeing much of any way for that "body thru the windshield" part to wind up good...

Oh deer...

Several years ago my daughter hit a deer on her way to work. She was in a van of some kind, and I don't remember what kind of damage it did, however, she was okay. The deer died. She went on to work. She works at a local high school, and told the guys in maintenance. They got in a truck and went and got said deer, brought it back to the school, and divided it up.

I asked my daughter if she got any of the venison and she said, "NO", she didn't want any of it. :eek2:
