Anyone else find this jaw dropping?? :eek2: MASH HERE

And perhaps more impressive, it has now been 34 quarters since a holding penalty was last assessed against an Alabama offensive lineman. The most recent enforced holding penalty on an offensive play was during the Kentucky game in early October (Four holding flags since then have all been on the kickoff team).

Players credited offensive line coach Joe Pendry for the trend.

"He really focuses on getting your hands inside," center William Vlachos said. "When you focus on it in practice and do it in practice every day, you don't have to think about it in a game. It just happens."

"Coach Pendry, every time in practice that we do it, points it out and we work on it," right guard Barrett Jones said. "That's why I think you've seen (so few holding calls), because we do pay attention to detail and focus on that."

Right... If you read the AU boards, it's not that we're playing a better technique, it's that all the refs were gathered into a huge room and given marching orders and promised the right amount of money under the table. And this is from jerks who worshiped Dye and his cheating, pants and wallet-losing butt...

REC = Red Elephant Club. Except in the eyes of barner delusions, it is a donor alumni association.

I believe we had a holding penalty called against us vs. South Carolina but it was declined. My memory is not fantastic so I could be wrong.

The "no-holding" phenomenon is due to good coaching. We average less than 1 false start penalty per game. This is obviously a well coached and very disciplined offensive line.

I've had several Auburn and Ole Miss fans bring this up to me this week. I swear they actually believe the SEC has instructed referees to not call penalties against Alabama.

Well at least they are consistant. They don't call it when Julio gets mugged or tripped up (HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HEAR INCIDENTAL CONTACT A GAME?).

Oh yeah, the locals are all over this one. It's been noted ad nauseum by various schools' fans around here. (and btw, just a reminder: USM is the ringleader in hatred of all things Crimson Tide in this state. Yet, somehow many of us here keep thinking they respect us or like us. They most assuredly do NOT. Give me a bargeload of MSU or UM types all day over half-a-dozen USM types. At least w/ MSU & UMers, logic & reason eventually connect; USMers, not so much.)

I'm just wondering if the REC has gotten to the Big East refs that'll be calling the NC game yet...hope so!

Yeah, no way any team that gets beat year after year by you (with the exception of a couple of years) is going to give you respect.

Very interesting.

I was just discussing with my daughter yesterday how much OL blocking rules have changed over the last 30 years, or so.
