They are beating the underdog / no respect drum pretty loud over there. To be honest with you I have no idea where its coming from. Maybe its just me but other than Salsa Boy trying his best to get that ball rolling I haven't heard many people say that its a mismatch. I expect both teams to be caught off guard early, and to spend the first half scrambling and making adjustments.

They also mention Tidefans.com a good bit.

They're weird. I've never seen such cocky overconfidence, all the while accusing us of being the overconfident ones. Reading their boards, we don't even belong on the field with them, much less being favored, which seems to be a deadly insult. If I had their OL and their running game, I'd have some concerns going into a BCSCG, but not they...

All this is one reason I have never been fond of the Longhorns...they always have things better and bigger just because they are in Texas. Nothing against the fair citizens of the great state but that attitude has always chapped me a little. I am not surprised at what you guys are saying about the sites which is why I have stayed away from them.

Eh, let 'em have their fun. I think some of their ignorance about our program is just plain humorous.

Aside from that, what's the big deal? They're hopeful, and so are we. They think very highly of their team, and so do we. The games aren't played on paper, they're played on the gridiron.

Anything can happen.

But we all know what's most likely to happen, now don't we?? :biggrin2:

I suppose that most on the Tidefans site, that is, the Bama Nation people on here, have driven through Texas.

The last time I drove through it I remember thinking, George Bush has already been governor of a "country."

I can understand how some of them would look at us as the guppy and themselves as the whale.

This may be a situation like Notre Dame was -- Bear never beat Notre Dame and he never beat Texas. In fact, we have never beaten Texas, period. This is one of the few teams we don't have the best of record-wise, head to head.

Another opportunity for a Saban FIRST.

By the way, don't you think McElroy, with his Dallas connections, wants to win this?

Of course, a big question, seeing how the two conferences don't play each other during the regular season, is whether a Big 12 offense has any idea of what it is like to go through a string of SEC-like defenses. Texas just played the best defense they probably saw all year, and what happened -- an old time SEC-like score, and in the confusion at the end of the game they encountered a Les Miles-like situation.

Bo Pelini came over to Nebraska from the SEC, by the way. Texas looks like a Big 12 team -- primary emphasis upon offense, and more finesse on defense than the usual physicality of the SEC. And how many offenses have they seen with the physicality of people like Ingram, Richardson, and Julio? It sounds like the Texas fans are somewhat aware of most of this, but I wonder whether Texas' players actually expect what they will experience in this game. If we play our game, it should be a more physical game than Texas is used to.

Sporting News’ Matt Hayes writes that that BCS championship game has the makings of a colossal mismatch.

NOBODY in the media is giving Texas much of a chance. How many columnists and analysts are picking UT?

I really don't pay to much attention to the talking heads, their opinion is no better than my own. In fact my opinion is probably more accurate considering that inhale and exhale Bama football daily.

If you haven't realized it by now the vast majority of media are a lazy bunch. With only the ability to look at the last game played by each team. And other than that, they are trying to get you to click on the link or purchase paper/magazine.

It really makes no difference. Alabama respects their opponents and that is all that matters. As long as the team isn't buying into the poison the media is trying to feed them, I'm not worried.

Which makes the chest-thumping I see on the UT boards all the more puzzling...
Because this is pretty much what we saw in 2005 but they haven't called you the greatest team in the history of college football. Which happens to be exactly what would have happened if you all hadn't beaten Florida, a game most thought you would loose.

We refuse to loose.

I thought that we were pretty loose against Forida and Florida looked uptight.

As for what the media is saying, why take it out on us. We are not the ones saying that UT doesn't belong on the field. Of course there are exceptions but most respect UT on here.

USC was a decided favorite because they hadn't lost a game in two seasons before playing Texas. The difference was that VY was good enough to drive an offense that probably wasn't as star-studded across the board as USC. Alabama ain't 2005 USC and Colt McCoy ain't Vince Young.

Oh, Lord. I sure hope the media Illuminati are the only ones drinking that Koolaid.

Anyone who thinks Texas isn't coming to play for a championship doesn't get it.
