I read where he is the receiver coach for Houston. Their receivers ran very precise routes and the QB/ Receiver timing was very good - possible future coach at Alabama?

My brother graduated HS with George in Montgomery. Watched him eat people alive his senior year in HS on an undefeated team that was the only HS team rated above the school portrayed in Remember the Titans. That team had Mike Washington, Sedrick McIntyre (who went to Auburn), Ralph Stokes, and John Rogers on it that played at Bama. Have always wondered what happened to George. Good to hear that he is doing well. He sure had the receivers ready last Saturday. Maybe one day Mama will call him home if needed.

I think George has a good rep as a recruiter, FWIW...

Earle you are so Right!

Pugh earned his undergraduate degree in health, physical education, and recreation from the University of Alabama in 1976. He was a four-year starter and letterwinner at tight end for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant; during those four years (1972-75), the team posted a 44-1 record, making four post-season bowl appearances and winning a national championship in 1973.

I played with the 1969 RE Lee team - with John Rogers - and we graduated in 1970. Wsahington and Stokes were on the 1970 RE team. Both teams won the State Championship.

Traveler...I was a lot younger and had a better recall and memory and probably mixed up the years. I am a General also but I played basketball. But that team of 69 and 70 still remains to me the best HS team I have ever seen. You add Paul Spivey in there in 69 and those teams were a force to deal with. The 70 team with Stokes, McIntyre, and David Lewis (I think that is his name) in the backfield was something to watch. If memory serves me right, didn't Ralph Stokes and McIntyre both have over 1000 yards rushing that year?

I know you probably have good memories!

Coach Chris Thurmond, who USED to be on Fran's staff at Alabama (& who was very very clsoe to his players he recruited: Charlie Peprah & crew) - got off the Fran-staff ASAP (do ya blame him?!?) He is now on the Houston staff - and would be an excellent guy for Alabama - but no one on Saban's staff probably even knows him - he's a good guy & a good coach & also good with & for the players. I think he is defense of some capacity. I think also that his duaghter is a grad-student at Alabama or maybe in Bama Law School or something. Does anyone else know about him???
