Does anyone know much about Adam Thrash 6-4 215.. I guess it is hard to know about him, being from Arkansas. I'm not bashing SP, He just ain't getting the job done... in the big games.

ill be the first to say, if thrash ever gets into the game, we are in trouble. big time. if you get to go a game, just watch the QB's warming up. you can tell he is inferior to the others. really, you can tell.

where the trouble will really start is if Spencer gets hurt.
Lets not bash Spencer, he might not be getting it done, but hes about all we have left. A.J. Milwee might just have to fill in his shoes should he go down.
A.J. is a tough young man, a walk on from Boaz. :BigA:

He doesn't get alot of penalties and mis-handeled snaps from center and he does know where the ball is suppose to go when he gets it.

I have not been to any games, so I have not seen the QB's warn up..

I am for Thrash myself. He cant be much worse (If at all) than what we have now. I have been to several games and he throws the ball fine to me. He passed for almost 4000 yds his junior yr. I dont have his senior stats. Rivals listed him as a 1 star player but Max Emfinger gave him 4 stars and said he was a sleeper. Unless we improve tremendously at this position, we are going to lose to both LSU and Auburn. Now, even MSU isnt a cinch.

Heh. But Spencer looks "sharp" in practice. And we know how well that translates to game day.

Mind you, I realize Thrash is a Freshman, and at this point, I'd rather just finish out the season with Pennington since he probably knows the plays MUCH better than Thrash.

But to base opinions of a QB on 'warmups' is kinda silly.

Get off the koolaid kids!! If Thrash could do it he would be in the game. Spencer may not be very good but he is our best option at this point. RTR

I give up, I don't undersatnd why all the bashing of the payers, I'm ot of here, I had rather watch the grass grow as read the biased posts from folks who want nothing more than to stir up trouble. If you bashers want to coach, go back to school, get your degree, and get into coaching.

Bama's best option is to stay with Spencer. He is improving week to week, He knows the offense, He has good arm strength.
His problem is accuracy and that gets better with practise and experince.

Well, it took a little research but here's what I found on Thrash...

Jr year -- 3,973 yards, 48 TDs, 64% comp ratio
Sr year -- 3,184 yards, 39 TDs, 67% comp ratio, 3A state champs (Arkansas)

He got some interest from Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and a few others but expressed his desire to go to Bama, even as a walk-on if necessary. I think that's when everyone else backed off.

I haven't seen him in practice or warming up before games, but I'm surprised he isn't getting more attention based on what he did in HS. I'm sure he got a chance to show what he could do once Brodie got hurt and he's still 3rd on the depth chart behind Pennington and an injured Guillon, for whatever that's worth.

Thanks for the info. Stats on Adam Thrash are hard to find. I remember reading that he held a state record in passing. I don't know which record or which year. I have searched the Arkansas State High School sites and everywhere else on the internet and I just can't locate the record.

For some reason Arkansans who saw Thrash play in high school, were not high on him as a quarterback, even though he set records. Don't think it was because he let it be known he wasn't interest in going to Arkansas either. Several called him a thrower rather than a passer, wihch usually means high velocity and little touch.

To add to the stats above his HS coach, Kevin kelley, said the following:

"We ask a lot of him as a quarterback because of the type of offense we run. Adam has a strong arm and exhibits a delicate touch when needed. He is an excellent reader of defenses."

I don't know, guys. As I said, I've never seen the kid throw a single pass. But he was a heckuva passer in HS. I'd hate to see him burn a RS year on 3 games but, at the same time, I'd like to see what he could do.

Well, his time on the forty is listed as 4.8. If Nutt is looking for athletic QBs who can run as well as they pass then Thrash would not be an option. He's a pocket passer, not a runner...a la Matt Jones. I have no idea. Just a thought.

No touch with a 67% completion ratio? Maybe his receivers had horny hands? Sounds like Adam is on the eve of greatness. :)

I still think Marc has a better arm than Spence...but until Sat. Spence had not lost. However, with Marc being hurt, it is unfair to judge.

Here's the way I look at it. If Marc had played with a hurt back, and then hurt it beyond coming back this year, we would be stuck with Spencer as starter and a walk-on as a back up.

With Spencer as starter, we still have an injured Guillon, who COULD play if necessary, as backup.

I still have confidence in Spencer-- who made some gutsy throws at UT-- and wish Marc was healthy to give us two good options at QB. However, I think Thrash as lots of potential. BUT!!! he has not taken enough reps to sneeze at.
