I thought his interruption of "Where did you get that," obviously showed him taken aback. I could only think of Pat Dye's remark, when told that the NCAA was investigating him, responded with "They got nothing on me." (Turned out they did...) :D

SIAP, but thought this was (for me) one of the more effective attack ads I've seen in a long while:

Regardless of what you think of Donald Trump and what he might have meant with his John McCain comments, I think the veteran's soft decency is damning to our current level of political discourse, in general.

It gets me when the veteran refers to the presidency as the "most precious office." Whereas we often resort to sarcasm and feigned apathy, the Greatest Generation had a respect, love, and even awe of civic duty that we often miss today.

Our veterans and our country deserves better. Unfortunately the opposition isn't any better.

Re: Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

Quick weekend recap:

  • Leaked tax return pages suggest Trump has not paid federal income tax in two decades.
  • Trump does not deny this, threatens to sue the NYT, and his campaign argues this makes him a "genius."
  • Invokes Clinton's leaked comments regarding Sanders' supporters, and then immediately proceeds to insult Sanders and his supporters.
  • Returns to his call for supporters to act as poll watchers in "certain areas."
  • Once again insulted Lester Holt and his microphone at the debate.
  • Suggests Clinton has not been faithful to her husband.

Re: Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

By the way, since we are talking about Ms. Machado, does anybody know if she lost the weight? I am not voting for him so I haven't really looked into it. But if she did than that seems to indicate terrific leadership by Trump. I don't want some loser who says to the government "you're fine just the way you are." I want a candidate that will say "Hey government, you're a fat slob and you need to shape up and slim down."

Looking at the old interviews, she never ever weighed the 160-170 lb he claimed later. She gained a bit, but she still was very attractive. She just ran afoul of his control fixation...

How about Allan Sloan:

I am going to go out on a limb. Trump could have claimed a loss on his divorce, and as long as it was legal for the current tax code, his supporters would hold him up as a genius and an example of why everything is broken. Most people who genuinely like Trump and are excited for a Trump presidency, don't think that income tax should even be a thing, so more power to someone who figured out a way to "stick it to the man." The campaign is handling this as best they can, solidify their base by reinforcing the message that he is a brilliant businessman who understands capitalism like the pope understands catholicism. Nevermind the fact that he is a raging hypocrite.

Well, there you have it. The threat is out in the open...

Sounds very similar to Röhm's threats before he finally became too uncomfortable for Hitler...
