How do we get the swagger back the spring after the bowl loss?

Anyone with the right attitude should look to the future and not the past for inspiration for swagger. Recruiting has been phenomenal and a lot of stellar players we had this year were freshmen, which means they aren't likely to do anything but get better. Our depth issues should largely be resolved and we'll have a bunch of RS talent hitting the field for the first time. In almost every regard we'll be in better shape then we were in this year. Remember that everyone predicted that this next season would be the one to look out for us.

All the players did was compound their misery of losing to Florida by going out, and getting totally embarrassed by Utah on National TV in a BCS Bowl game. I like Bamabuzzard's Woody Hayes quote: "There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you." Utah gave Alabama a good attitude adjustment. Coach Saban will remind them of it everyday between now, and the time that they take the field against Virginia Tech!

I don't think you have to do anything. Bama had a great season. Losing to a really good Utah team doesn't change that. If I’m not mistaken next year was supposed to be your year, and you won 12 games this year, I’ll take that as a down year any time. Utah was/is a lot better than everyone but my own fan base thought, and could probably do the same thing to either team in the NC game but thanks to the BCS we'll never know. Bama will be in the SECCG again next year with a legitimate shot at a NC.

I know i will be pulling for the Crimson Tide to take the SEC next year

Too True last year Utah got humiliated by a bad UNLV team losing 27-0, after that the team came together and won 21 out of the next 22 games

I think it'll start in the off season. Coaches will likely use the spanking by Utah on the national stage as a little motivation factor.:eek2: :)

I've got a feeling that this year's Fourth Quarter Program will go a long way towards getting the swagger back. Or, if not swagger, maybe a confident determination!

Thanks for the support and there's no denying that your team dominated us from start to finish, however I wouldn't be so quick to toot your own horn. Our loss was more of a result of apathy on our part and the loss of 2 starting O-line, one of whom is arguably one of the best left tackles in the history of college football. We lost Andre for the Tulane game and you saw how we performed in that game, and Tulane was NOT a good team this year.

That being said, I do think Utah is a good football team. They just capitalized on our lack of focus more than they outmanned or outplayed us, IMO. Had the game been played during our regular season as opposed to following a disappointing loss in the SECCG and being this close to playing in the NCG, I firmly believe the result would have been much, much different.

I'd like to see Utah and Boise State join the PAC 1 and play more than 1 or 2 opponents with a pulse per year. I'm all for giving the no-namers a chance to prove themselves, but they'll have to do it on a consistent basis before I'll start heaping praise on them.

Congrats to your team on the win, nonetheless.

Like was said, the Utes got owned last year in a bowl and manned up.

Florida got owned in its bowl game last year and manned up.

CNS says it all the time. It's about getting better each and every game, doing what you need to do to dominate your opponent each play of each game regardless of who the opponent is, regardless of the circumstances that surround it. Utah did that and Bama didn't.

Congrats to the Ute nation on a great season.

How do we motivate the players this spring when they are going to be down after the sugar loss? What senior will step up and help the rest?:BigA:
You don't "get" swagger, like so many teams think---you "earn" swagger. It will take a team of top-notch athletes coming together as one with the sole purpose of never wanting to taste losses like those again, and agreeing to work as individuals and as a team 365 days a year to be the best all the time...

THEN, and only then, will the "swagger" come back. It's a result of hard work, great work ethic, and winning.

Can't take anything away from the Utes. They lined up and kicked our tails and won the game. :banghead:

As for the swagger that will come after a couple of more recruiting classes and as they go through the 4th quarter program. That's how you get back to the level that we were in the 70's and Miami was in its heyday and USC is now. Heck for those programs, earning playing time at practice was harder than the actual game. Trust in the process. CNS will get us there.

They lost to LSU, La. Monroe, Miss. State and Auburn last season ,,, but came back to win the bowl game, and then reel off another 12 in a row. Eight months, a new season, and a 0-0 record do wonders for the heart and head.

I would also think that a glance at the players coming in this year's recruiting class will motivate those on the current roster to earn their spots... much as it did last year.
