If this has been cleared up in another thread, please just send me a private message and delete this thread. However, I have not seen a "serious" pronunciation of the name. I do mean "serious" knowing full well what the clowns on TideFans might come up with.

How do I pronounce Chizik? Not sure. I can't say it without busting out laughing...

I was going to post a picture of clowns, but my claurophobia wouldn't allow me to click on the picture I wanted to paste.

Anyhow, thanks for the highly hijackable thread. As for serious pronunciations, well, this might be the wrong time.

Presser for 2009 bowl announcements:

"After a steller first year of a 7-5 record, Coach Cheez-it will take his Auburn Tigers to the inaugural Nabisco Bowl in Montgomery AL."
Dude, 7-5 is a pipe dream for the barners in 2009...

The "Ch" is a soft "Ch," more like an "Sh" sound. And the "z" in the middle is a hard "z" sound, kind of like "tz" or "ts."

I think it's something like "Shiz-ik" but no clue. Kinda like Shih-tzu.

Either way, I don't see Auburn fans have enough patience (or brain power) to learn how to pronounce it correctly.

I think I got my answer on ESPN this morning. This is the way the announcer did it.

The ch was as in cheese
The first i was short, not ee
z was normal z

Thanks for the responses, both serious and clownish.

They said it wrong, it's definitely Cheez-it. Definitely.

If not then it's definitely Cheez-hick. Yah, that's it.
