How long has it been since each SEC team has been blown out?

Also, I think you missed on LSU. They lost to Mississippi State 37-7 only 14 games ago.

Incidentally, I think the second longest streak in this category among Power 5 teams is 43, by Wisconsin.

The last team to beat them by 15+ points?

I'll give you three guesses.
:biggrin2:

I was afraid that the streak would’ve been broken against Auburn last year, felt like a blowout at least.

165 games. I knew it was a long time, but that is nuts.

  • Bama has lost by more than 31 7 or 8 times since 1910 (I did not validate this, someone else posted this in the recent past on another board).
  • Has not given up 50 pts or more in regulation (gave up 21 in reg and 51 in 6 or 7 OTs once in 2003) since 1907.
  • The 12 pt loss to AU this past year was the first to them > 10 pts since 1969 (Bama was driving to tie the score with ~ 7 1/2 min left, threw an int and AU scored 3 TDs, including a fake punt, in the last 7 mins). Bama has beaten them by more than 10 something like 17 times (going by memory again) during that time.

I'm so glad I asked this question.....

1900 - 53-5 (48)

Notes

I would point out, however, that just because final scoreboard numbers show something doesn't really tell us a lot (in some cases) about how competitive the game was.

In 1982, we trailed Southern Miss in BDS by scores of 28-7 and 35-14......if you look at the final margin of 9 points, it doesn't look so bad. The same is true in the opposite direction of the 1982 Penn State game. Yes, we beat them 42-21 on the scoreboard, but with maybe five minutes or so left, we led by six. They tried a punt, and it hit their own blocker (he retreated too far back) and we got the ball at their ten and scored and then we picked off a desperate heave by Blackledge and ran it close and scored to put the game away.

Even the 2006 Florida score is deceptive because we were only down by eight with about six minutes left when JP Wilson threw a pick six.

Just for a few points of comparison....post-1969 (when I was born)

NOTRE DAME

Surrendered 50 points or more
1974 USC
1985 Miami
2014 Arizona St
2016 Texas (2 OT game, though)

31 point losses?
Nebraska (1972)
Pitt (1976)
Miami (1985, 2017)
Oregon St (2001 Fiesta)
Michigan (2003 and 2007)
FSU (2004)
USC (1974, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2014)

Notre Dame has more 31-point losses just to USC since 1974 than Alabama has overall since 1948.

2012 Wisconsin
2014 Wisconsin
2015 Purdue
2016 Ohio St
2017 Ohio St
2017 Minnesota
2017 Penn St
2017 Iowa

Missouri (2008)
Wisconsin (2011, 2012, 2014

Minnesota (2017)
Iowa (2017)

Nebraska had FOUR games in six weeks in 2017 where they surrendered over 50 points
