OK, We are all "HUGE" Bama fans and if you are like me you grew up on Alabama Football.
This football season has been more emotionally charged for me than any other I can remember. The screaming, cheering, and chills are always there, but the "super-excitement" for our boys in Crimson and White has shown up sometimes this season as tears and a smile. I don't mean "old yeller" got shot tears, more like I am so happy for our guys tears.

Here are my top 5 for the 2009 Season.
5. Trent's run against the Razorbacks.
4. The last Upchurch catch in the Iron Bowl
3. The "Let's go be Champions, Boys" statement by Gmac
2. Mt. Cody's last second block in the UT Game
1. Ingram accepting the Heisman

O-Well, anybody else want to be honest?:biga:

Re: How Many Times Did Tear Up This Season?

Frequently....

But #1 without a doubt is sitting inside the Rose Bowl and watching Greg take the final knee- watching in person us win the national championship in the ROSE BOWL - And then singing the fight song and screaming "remember the rose bowl we'll win then!!!". Tears.

Of course ingrams speech - everyone in the room had tears :)
-----
Upchurch catching that pass in the iron bowl brought some too :) but the relief type of tears that cody's block would of brought if i wasn't in the stadium having a heart attack and then celebrating! did almost bring them again later when i watched big Cody on the field afterwards about to cry.
-----

and when i got a text early on the day of the BCS game that was my brother reminding me it was my late grandmother's bday (big bama fan) and that 'texas didn't stand a chance' :)

I never teared so much before during a football season. However, I can't forget the off season during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Derrick Thomas. 2009 was truly a magical year for BAMA football.

I also teared up today when I looked at the roster and realized how many special players we were losing on defense alone. This senior class has a great group of guys.

Well glad I'm not the only one... :)

I teared up as Cody blocked the FG against UT.. and again when Anders forced that late fumble to pretty much seal up #13. Also when Ingram received the Heisman.:biggrin2:

Twice. Once after i went downstairs after the Tennessee game and saw my son had robbed the fridge and the other was watching the Blindside three weeks ago.

Just once: Ingram's speech. Those speeches are usually bland.

This was the first Bama season ever where never once did I ever think we'd lose the game. Not when Tennessee lined up at the end, not down 14-0 to Auburn, never against Florida, never.

That's a first.

Although I suffered, ahem, an allergic reaction in my eyes during Ingram’s Heisman acceptance speech, no real tears. These, however, were the more emotional moments for the season:

Ingram’s Heisman acceptance speech
Cody’s 2nd block against UT (Cody, you still owe me a ceiling fan, a new 44 oz. mug, and a can of flat white ceiling paint).
Julio’s TD against LSU
Coffee’s TD against VT when he hit the DB into the endzone
Marquis Johnson beating Steve Spurior’s “Manhood” challenge in the SC game.
McElroy all day in the SEC Championship Game
Seeing the Bama D making good QBs look bad (Mallet, Snead, Tebow)
Dareus’ INT for a TD against Texas
Eryk Anders’ hit & forced fumble against Texas
Realizing the pre-season “weak links” were actually strengths (by the end of the ARK game)
Seeing a game changing TE in a Bama uniform.

Plus, sprinkle in too-many-to-mention highlights of Ingram, Richardson, McClain, Arenas.

Umm none. I don't cry over my school's football team. Crying over a loss is for Sissies and kids that haven't hit puberty and don't know what to do with their emotions. Crying over a win because you are overwhelmed with pride is stupid. Show your pride by wearing a Bama polo or yelling Rammer Jammer, not by breaking down and crying. Tears of joy is appropriate only under circumstances, like for a father figure to see his son grow into a successful man in life. Football, for me, just doesn't seek like a place for crying. If some of the players who are the ones who actually succeeded and accomplished something can make through without shedding tears, then every adult male fan shouldn't have a problem preventing themselves from crying over someone elses success.

Flame away and tell me I am not a fan all you want, but please don't try to justify crying over Alabama football, whether it be from a loss or victory.

Twice: 1) Ingram's acceptance speech at the Heisman presentation, brought on by his own tears I might add (so that probably shouldn't count) and 2) standing in Rose Bowl stadium with my kids, counting down the final seconds to a national championship.

There was one other close call; I thought there might be tears at the end of the Tenn. game, but Cody saved me from that embarrassment. ;)

When I saw Coach Saban apparently having that same allergic reaction after Ingrams speech, well it must be contagious.

There's some palpable irony after reading the forum's thoughts on corporeal punishment recently...

Anyway, I didn't cry. I aged during the UT game though.

As a basketball coach, I've had teams win championships. A bunch. I get choked up every time one of my players hoists a trophy and makes eye contact with a proud parent in the stands.

The only time I choked up was when Ingram teared up at the Downtown Athletic Club, because making eye contact with that proud parent was something I'd seen many times. I knew exactly how he felt, and I knew how his coach felt, too.

Coaches realize more than anyone else the sacrifices these kids make.
