AUSTIN - The high-rent district in college football has another tenant.

Membership criteria: 800 victories.

In Division I history, only four teams — Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas and Nebraska — have reached the exclusive milestone. For each, it has been a journey involving more than 100 years, 1,100 games and lots of tradition.
779 according to the article. I guess I was naive and thought Bama would be in this elite fraternity.

Very interesting in that Bama & Ohio State have the EXACT SAME RECORDS! 774 Wins and 301 Losses, however OSU has had 52 ties, while Bama has had 43 ties.

Even more interesting is looking at the statistic that to me says more about the program than overall Wins. That is WINNING PERCENTAGE.

In that Category, Michigan has .74421, Notre Dame has .74352, Texas has .71697, Bama has .71154, Oklahoma has .71110 and Ohio State has .70985.

In the "for what it's worth" column the Aubs have a .62719 winning percentage.

Even more interesting than that is Southern Cal...they only have a .69954 winning percentage. With all of those Heisman winners you would have expected them to be higher in terms of winning percentage.

I am intrigued how someone is using total wins as the true measuring stick when not all schools have played the same number of games. For instance, Michigan has played 47 more games than Alabama. Texas has played 25 more games than Alabama. Notre Dame has only played 1 more game than Bama. And finally Nebraska has played 44 more games than Bama.

I was just pointing things out and not making conclusions...you make your own conclusions.
