I'll say he's going to do about the same. It seems that we have been throwing some pretty safe passes with Brodie, and occasionally airing it out, of which Brodie had really only connected on one to Brown. Guillon seems to throw the short and intermediate passes very well, and he'll have the running game at 100% to keep them honest.

Since I don't see the game plan changing a whole lot with Guillon in there, I imagine we'll see the same types of passes, and I think Marc matches up pretty well with Brodie on those passes, so I'm going with "the same".

I am going to try to be a bit realistic in my own ways.

I think he struggles this game and ends up with decent at best stats. Granted, I think we win this game but I am not sure that the Arkansas defense is THAT BAD with Nutt at the helm. Yes, I know they gave up all those passing yards last week but even so I expect a new QB in his first SEC start to miss some reads and some passes.

I voted not as well, but only initially. I do believe they will gel with Marc in there but it will take some time. the WR will have to adjust and so will everyone else. it will take some time but initially i expect to see a couple of bad passes due to wrong route, delay of games, and maybe a fumble or two...

after they get some time under their belt, which may be one quarter or 3 games, who knows, the will gel and come together real well.

People talk about Marc being the one who got the snaps in spring, well thats good but none of our freshman WR were there in the spring, so that kinda worries me.

If this kid has the arm I have heard he has........

He is going to look much better than Brodie. Our secondary is very suspect. The worst you have faced all year. Not fair to compare him to Croyle, but ya will.

Lets Not Forget Folks

it was MG that was out there all spring with this offense minus some great additions so he knows the plays and can read defenses pretty well. If he can move the ball on our defense the hogs defense is no where near ours so just give him some slack I just hope CMS and staff let him throw as much or more and not go into a shell the kid will serve us well!!!!! Gotta love his attitude and I tell ya I watched the game on cox sports last night he has a very very quick drop and release not as strong in throwing power as BC but just as efficient maybe more with the touch passes. Dont worry folks as long as we let him run the offense and pass we will be fine!!

I have not seen MG play, but I've heard that he's a long way from playing at Brodie's level. Having said that, I think he will be a good QB for us once he gets a few games under his belt. Vertical is correct in that most of our passes have been relatively "safe" and we're not needing someone who can consistently thread the needle with bullets to make our passing game work. But I tend to fall more in line with TheBamaMan. I think it will take some time to adjust to "game" play vs scrimmages, to get the timing down with the receivers, and to read the defense quick enough to find the open guy on the "hot" route.

No doubt that all the reps in spring practice were a great foundation. I'd be really worried if that was not the case. But MG has only been getting about 20% of the reps with the 1st team since fall practice. It will take some time to get "in sync" and get over the jitters and get into a groove where he's really comfortable. Even when all that happens, I simply don't think he's as good as Brodie.

I have a feeling that he will do very well in the short-run.
Arkansas has a very inexperienced defense. It is my understanding that they are going to load up to stop the run and try to force Guillon to throw the ball. Live by the sword...die by the sword. In this case, methinks die.
Think about their preparation. They have a few series worth of tape in a game that was 31-0. They don't know anything about Guillon. They don't know his tendencies. They don't know how he reacts to pressure. They don't know how well he can throw the ball down the field. If I'm going to put nine guys in the box, I think I'd want to know just a little about the guy I'm facing.
I think it goes this way...
They crowd the line early to stop the run. Guillon makes them pay with play action and we build a bit of a lead. They are forced to abandon the run, and our newer, meaner defense makes Jones pay. He'll try to do too much and make stupid turnovers. Our success through the air will force them to respect the pass and then the running game will grind out a little over a hundred yards.

Well, no knock against Marc but I dont see how we can expect to see him do better. I'm sure CMS doesn't expect it or else he would have been the starter for the last three games. I'm sure he will do a good job, just not better.
