I want this school to return to excellence in football. All this talk about a basktball school is crap. Football will always be King of the State no matter how many Final Fours we may reach in the future. Dont get me wrong I was just as excited as the next person but i wish i c/d be 2x as excited about the football team but i cant. Great Job Seniors!! SEC Crown,SEC Championship appearance, Sweet 16, Elite 8, 5 consective Ws vs Tennessee, and finally won at Arkansas, Auburn, and Miss.St. ROLL TIDE ROLL

Give the B'ball team credit. While I'll admit that I'm a much bigger football fan than basketball.... these boys did something this year that we ha haven't seen on the gridiron lately. They EXCEEDED expectations. Congratulations CMG and Bama B'ball on our FIRST Elite Eight and here's to looking to bigger and brighter things in the future. ROLLLLLL TIIIIIDE ROLLLLLLLL!
Sorry but wrong is the only way I can take your post. It seems you don't appreciate Bama Basketball the same way others here do. That is why we have a basketball board and a football board. If you think Bama basketball is crap, stop reading this board, it's as simple as that.
I have to agree with Bayou as well. If your not a multi-Bama Sport fan, then stay your narrow minded tail on the football board. No one ever said anything about this becoming a basketball school. I want this to be an all-sport school ..question is why wouldnt you ??? RTR

Bamafresh, I won't chastise you like the others around here. To "state one's feelings" is a new concept around here. You have to bow down and agree with the regulars here, or you aren't welcome, and God forbid you question something here.....Anyway, I'm a HUGE football fan, but I'll agree with Dempt, I wish for the UofA to be a multi sport school. I would like to see us win an NC in all the "big three". (fb, bb, bb) Actually, I wish we could win an NC in every sporting event we compete in. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS to the Tide basketball program, they deserve all the praise and recognition they get for such a fine season.

If everybody felt like that, we wouldn't be able to get a single decent recruit... Good thing we don't.
This basketball program has come a long way under CMG. We can be a good basketball AND football school, you know. Just like Texas, just like Oklahoma, just like Wisconsin, etc. etc. etc. This basketball team is breaking down barriers for the university. If we can maintain this we can be recognized as not only a FOOTBALL school, but one with good basketball tradition as well. Think about it, we only have 1 fewer NCAA appearance than Maryland! This IS a good program, but the fact is we just haven't been able to get it done once we get IN to the post season. We did this year. And with 4 starters returning next year, and consistently excellent recruiting as of late, there's no reason why, in a few years, it will be a surprise when Alabama DOESNT make the NCAA tourny. This, my friends, is a program on the rise and whether you want to accept that fact or not is up to. The future is BRIGHT for Bama basketball. period.

The payout we will receive for this Elite 8 appearance if very important for the football program as well. You are right about football being king, but that kingdom has been taxed, severely.
Realize, losing over 6 million in a two year span hurts dramactically. The infusion of monies from the Basketball program only helps.
On another note, you'll have a hard time finding football players who aren't basketball players. We have a lot of recruits who are entertained to a Tide basketball game on their recruiting trips to the Capstone. Wouldn't you rather have a winning program for them to experience?
Last but not least, our University has had a need for some good publicity for a long time now. We got it.
First of all it's "have you GONE to the other side?"....but....actually, no one is trying to "squash" Free Speech....you have a right to say anything you want to. But, you don't have the right to have EVERY forum available to you to SPEAK IT......
Okay to the person who wants this school to return to excellence in football you need to give shula a chance to prove that we have a good team! Oh yeah and by the way to be a true alabama fan u have to support all the sports not just one
You're right Rabid. While free speech is one thing, endles annoying drivvel is something else altogether. It's like listening on the radio to your favorite Little Feat record and all of a sudden the radio jumps to a gangsta rap station. It's just cruel and unusual punishment. Sorry for the rant.
LOL...What a joke. It not B'Ball vs Football, or Football vs gymnastics etc... this is a University(TEAM). It is BAMA vs UConn, BAMA vs DBarn, BAMA vs UT. And it does not matter if it is in football, swimming, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball or in something called academics. I WANT this school to be KING in EVERYTHING!!
