I see you (Auburn) hiding in the weeds. Thoughts on Iron Bowl 2023

Just a word for you younger Bama fans: This game (Iron Bowl) is Auburn’s Superbowl. In spite of their horrible loss this past week they will come into the game like they are undefeated and playing for a National Championship. Couple that with the voodoo of Jordan Hare and weird things happen. This game should be considered to be a business trip for Bama. So, let’s put on our TCB necklace and beat some Auburn buttocks!!!
You’re correct. My wife’s uncle is a former player. He told me today it’d be worth the loss to NMSU if they just used all last week to game plan for Alabama and it pairs off with a win.

I hope Jason Autrey isn't assigned to this game...
His crew hasn't called a Bama game since the TN game last year... it would be NOT GOOD if he was the referee this weekend or the referee for the Bama/UGA game. I really don't think he will be, but who knows.... I'm trying to think of the "best" crew in the SEC this year but am having trouble because they are all so mediocre. I do think Ken Williamson's crew was decent this year but not for our last game they called a few weeks ago.

The Iron Bowl is really all they care about. Some will try to deny but they don't hide their feelings very well. The Iron Bowl is and always has been their season. Couple that with a win over UGA and it's a great season for them. Add a bowl game win over a mediocre Big 10 team and it's a dream season.

Do I think the Barn was looking ahead to Bama? YES

Did they totally NOT prepare for a 8-3 NMSU team? I DOUBT IT, YOU'VE GOT TO AT LEAST DO SOME PREP FOR A DECENT TEAM

Did Freeze intentionally throw the game to get Bama overconfident? NO, THESE KINDS OF LOSSES BUILD MOMENTUM FOR LOSING YOUR JOB

Did Auburn fans get overconfident in 3 straight wins against very weak teams? YES, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR WHOLE FAN BASE - JUST SHOWS THEIR LACK OF FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE

Is Auburn's offense as terrible as it looks? YES! THORN'S ONLY STRENGTH IS HIS LEGS, BUT HE'S NO DANIELS OR MILROE. HE'S A LIABILITY IN THE POCKET AND I THINK STEELE AND OUR D LIGHTS UP HIS WORLD!
You are speaking the truth @BamaMoon. They may hang around for a bit but in the end I think we SkullDrag them.

I’m convinced that Auburn spent all of last week prepping for Alabama, and they’ll continue that this week. Two weeks of prep, combined with Hugh’s playbook of creative, schoolyard offensive plays. Trouble is, he doesn’t have the players this year to execute most of it. He’ll have some of that soon, unfortunately.

The other aspect that you are all aware of from past experience, is that Jordan Hare can be a graveyard for us. The crowd makes it weird because most of them hate anything having to do with Alabama. As bad as LSU and Tennessee.

And then there’s the officials. I want that hotline from JH stadium to the officials review booth in Birmingham to have its line cut. I’ve suspected for a long time that there are some anti-Bama forces up there who don’t give a crap about Alabama winning games. And this applies to non-conference games as well.

Put them, their fans, and the officials out of the picture early. Go after them with everything right away. And that goes for defense too. Be prepared for some of the philosophy, suddenly, that UNA used in first quarter of the FSU game last Saturday night. AU doesn’t run that kind of offense usually, but be prepared for it.

We SHOULD beat them 45-10…. But for whatever reason Auburn plays out of their minds when we go down there.

Last two times Auburn was a 6 win team entering an IB @ JHS…

2015: takes us to the 4th in a competitive game

2021: Should have beaten us if Bigsby stays In bounds. Game goes into Mickey Mouse OT.

I think it would be so fitting for 2023 Bama with all the weirdness and warts that the team has to be one Saban team that is immune to JHS Voodo. lol

Hopefully. And there's reason to think that.

Normally, we are idling the Bama engine this time of the year. We normally begin the year playing some of our best ball in Sept. and Oct. and then we just try to finish off what we started in Nov. and early Dec. and sometimes that causes us to play it safe or sloppy late in the year.

But this year is totally different. Not only are we playing our best ball late but our focus and resolve seem to grow better with each game too. It's just a different team and one reason CNS seems to have such a great affection for them coming together.

We'll see Saturday if this holds true!

Freeze said something interesting in his Monday press conference. He said he had shown prior Alabama-Auburn games to the team to prepare them for how much the game means to their fans. That was Monday. So he was showing the games last week. That supports the narrative that they were preparing for Alabama last week. I don't think we are looking at an Apollo Creed's manager watching Rockee punch on halves of beef moment, but we better go down there with our chinstrap tighten up. Alabama is clearly the better team. We just need to take them out early.

That almost feels like a desperation move in my opinion. They just lost by 21 to New Mexico State and he needs to show film of the kick six and the camback to get his guys motivated for an instate rival???

All of that emotion and hype lasts for about two series. Then reality sets in. The fact is, Bama is way more talented than Auburn. Our defense will shut down their offense - they may kick a couple of field goals, but that will be it. And our offense will come out smoking hot like they did against UTC. We jump out to an early lead and they will fold their tent.

This one won't be close, fellas. Bama by 24+, but it will be over by halftime.

I'm not nervous at all about the IB.

I've seen nothing in recent weeks to make me think Bama will take abuurn lightly, and if Bama shows up focused, the barn cannot win.

At this point in the season it's all about the culture the coaches have built into the team. If Bama shows up flat then they deserve to lose.

David Smith’s crew is by far the best, but of course he can’t officiate our games

The Barn will not be able to move the ball on our defense. If we don’t win by at least 3 TDs, then something is very wrong.
