David Smith’s crew is by far the best, but of course he can’t officiate our games

Probably 99% of SEC folks wouldn't recognize him as a former Bama QB.

The new Gomer Pyle crew (Head Ref does remind me of him) seems to do a decent job too. Ken Williamson's crew does OK.

I've done a little officiating in rec league and intramural sports so I have a little sympathy for them. It's a harder job than it looks.

It’s funny that in the media, I’ve seen no analysis of the game outside of “it’s the IB in JHS, you never know what can happen.”

While that’s true, if you look back at the 2013, 2017, 2019, and 2021 games, it kind of makes sense why those games were close and we lost 3/4.

2013: Auburn had a very good team that year and luck just happened to be on their side.

2017: Shaky offense going into JHS to face a hot Auburn team that just upset #1 UGA.

2019: No Tua, first start for Mac Jones on the road, mediocre defense by Bama standards.

2021: Once again offensive issues, Jamo ejected due to targeting, RB depth incredibly thin.

This year I just don’t see how this game is close, Auburn has no momentum and quite frankly is just not a good team and Alabama has been on a roll since the 2nd half vs Tenn.

We will be focused. We have been in playoff mode since the Ole Miss game, and I don't see it changing. Absent voodoo, we should be comfortable, but you never know.

That almost feels like a desperation move in my opinion. They just lost by 21 to New Mexico State and he needs to show film of the kick six and the camback to get his guys motivated for an instate rival???

I've never witnessed a Bama loss in person. 2009 was my freshman year and I was abroad for the 2010 season. BUT every year since I've graduated that I've seen us play in person we have won that game but lost the NCG.

I've attended six (maybe seven?) Iron Bowls at JHS since 1989 and we've lost all of them.

We were favored in most of them and leading at halftime in most of them.

I'll be darned if I ever fail to take AU seriously on their home field. That place is a blight on the face of the earth and poison for us.

I don't know the number of games I've seen at BDS since 2007 when CNS came in, but I know I've only walked out 2 times after witnessing a Bama team loss.

2007: I was there for the La. Monroe debacle

2012: I was there for the Johnny Football game.

I sat on the 50 yard line both times. Moral of the story is don't give me 50 yard line seats, but I'm undefeated sitting everywhere else!!!

It was actually a fabulous game and game atmosphere. I got goosebumps in the pre-game.

Manziel was just a little "greased weasel" (actual term somebody sitting behind me used to describe him) that we couldn't contain that day. And despite that, we still almost won the game. IIRC, their DB jumped the rub route perfectly and INTed AJM.

Well then he is deeply stupid. (Could be). We make our jokes but new Mexico State isn’t a division 3 school. He also reported saying his players were in a “fog” yesterday. If he did what you said it has completely blown up in his face. Losing by 21 to New Mexico State doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. They didn't just lose. They got embarrassed.

I was at Jordan-Hare for the Kick Six. I also was tailgating (didn't go into the stadium) for the "Cam Back".

So now, any time there is a big game being played, I avoid going to the game like a plague. It's worked well so far minus last year. Obviously I've been to many wins in BDS, but none of them were MAJOR.

GREATEST:
2012 SEC Championship when we slammed heads with them for 59 minutes and 48 or so seconds before they ran out of time on a completed pass. Last game with my son and maybe one of the 5 or 10 greatest of all time that I've seen live or on TV.

We will win convincingly Saturday so I don't think it will be among the greats. I truly believe we'll go in focused and deal them misery from start to finish.
