...and yes I've showered several times since then!

A good friend of mine was recently hired there (and I won't say doing what or who he is because he could lose his job if this were to get into the wrong hands... and we all know there are more AU lurkers here than UA I'm sure), and I just graduated college and decided to visit everyone, and he offered to do it one day while he was working, so I said what the heck...

Ready for the twist in the story that you never seen coming?

Just outside of the practice lockerroom hangs a big banner above the bulletin board that reads "Iron Bowl: Remember The Feeling" and the scores from 2002-2007 are posted on it.

On the bulletin board below that is a message posted saying "KNOW YOUR OPPONENT" and underneath that was a black and white image of Mark Ingram.... MARK INGRAM!

Inside of the lockerroom sets a framed quote of Nick Saban's "We have an opponent in this state which we will work 365 days a year to dominate" speech. I had heard they once had a countdown to the Iron Bowl clock inside of that very lockerroom, but I did not see it.

In the main foyer, almost EVERY painting is of a notable moment/play in one of their Iron Bowl victories (I'd say 3/4ths of the paintings are of the Iron Bowl). I seen nothing commemorating their glorious 2004 season... But I did see paintings of Brodie getting sacked and their sixth consecutive victory over the Tide.

In the conference room hangs yet another banner that reads "BEAT ALABAMA!" Nothing else is hanging on the wall. No paintings. No notices. Nothing but that.

And in their trophy room, besides the Heisman Trophies, the 2004 SEC trophy, and a few Bowl trophies (and a framed head statue of Slug Jordan - with even the acne scars on his cheeks:biggrin:), of course for every other trophy was seemingly something to do with the Iron Bowl ranging from their first victory over Alabama, to game balls with the score written on it, etc. etc.

I know it's always said that all their fans care about is beating Alabama. Nothing more or less. But seeing their athletic department first hand and the garbage inside of it, I couldn't help but share this with you guys, just to let you know it's not just the fans, but the university as well. I'm sure Cheez-whiz is already coming up with a gameplan for the 2010 Iron Bowl as we speak, instead of preparing for whoever their first opponent is.

And they ignorantly wonder WHY they can never manage to garner any respect by the state and national media... is there anyone with more than half a brain who would take a program that would rather defeat one REGULAR SEASON OPPONENT than win a national title seriously?

Is there any other team out there who considers defeating ONE regular season opponent a success, rather than winning a championship? This is why Aubarn takes the cake...

You know, this may backfire on the goobs. If they have to look at that statement every time they enter -- could it not get in their subconsciences and give them the dreaded defeatist attitude, the "we are going to be dominated" mental state? 36-0 at B-D. The Drive at J-H. Yes, I can see this messing with their minds.

You assume they have a mind to mess with.

The trouble with the booger eaters on this one is that Coach Saban did not say we will dominate them, he said they would work 365 days to dominate them. Work. Relentless. Aubern can post that in their locker room and recite every day of the year, but it will do no good. Alabama is still working 365 days to dominate, and they're still dominating. The Process has and will continue to consume them and they'll never figure out why.

Auburn's only goal is just to beat Bama. Its why they'll never be anything more than what they've always been. They arent even known for being anything outside of being Alabama's rival. They will never get over the little man syndrome. I wish you had gotten some pictures.

That's really sad. You can almost feel sorry for them, but then you remember who you're talking about and how they deserve all the ridicule they get.

I have often thought that the "culture of fandom" comes directly from the mentality inside the athletic department. I have never been inside Auburn's, so I cannot say, but from your description their obsession with Alabama is personified in all the mementos you saw.

Inside Alabama's athletic buildings, we have trophies to remember all our great triumphs. Not only do we display national championship trophies, but also trophies of great bowl games and performances (in my case, the Orange Bowl trophy from 1963 with Lee Roy Jordan at linebacker and John F. Kennedy in attendance was a site). So I can't say I surprised by your experience, and actually I would expect nothing less from them.

I am curious, what kind of litter box did they have? One big one that has never been cleaned or a bunch of little litter boxes?

Here kitty kitty! Come to T-Town.:BigA:

I'll be praying for your soul, LOL. On a serious note all of that Orange and Blue must have made you want to Puke. This reminds me a lot of Louisville and kentucky. Its much the same in that rivalry. UK is big brother and UL is little brother, always focused on beating UK in something.

I had a wedding in allbarn two years ago and my wife had never really seen the "ugliest little village on the plains" so her cousin gave her a tour....she was shocked at how it looked and I guess to them it is nice, like the trailer parks on wire road. Our goal is to win National Championships......theirs is to beat us and nothing else.

To be fair to the goobs (which is hard for me to do), what do they have to put on display? Think Vanderbilt for a moment. I would imagine Vandy's display hardware would be mostly UT related. Other than a handful of bowl wins, what else do they have to crow about other than beating Tennessee?

But then, that is not being fair to Vandy, equating them with Aubarn. Seriously, what else is Aubarn to display but Bama stuff?
