in memory of Mike Ellis. It moved and touched me. It was posted by Mike's daughter Cayce on their CaringBridge Journal site.
"Dad went to live with Jesus, yesterday, 5/5 at 5:55pm. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!. The events leading up to his final breath were amazing. The nurses had let us know that we were in the last 24 hours because they were no longer able to get a blood pressure on Dad. Mom was talking to the nurses and Dad said "Mandy". She went to his side and Frankie sat down to take Dad's hand. It was Frankie, Mom and us 4 girls around his bed. Something fell off the shelf and I told Dad that it must be the angels - that it was taking a crowd of angels to take him home. Mom told Dad when he sees heaven to let her know. For the first time, Uncle Frank told Dad that it was okay to go. We knew all along that he was waiting on permission from his big brother, so we sat there praying that Frank would tell him, and he did. At 5:48 my sister's cell went off, playing the "Alabama fight song". Dad always told us he would get a phone call when it was time for him to go. How perfect. He took his last breath, and the biggest smile we have ever seen was on his face. He saw Heaven, and he was letting my Mom know. It was beautiful. His arms gently lifted off the bed, as if his soul was being pulled from that sick body. There were a lot of tears, but with the tears each of us were saying, "Thank you , Jesus, Thank you, Lord". Dad is no longer in pain, and that smile let us know that he is finally healed. AMAZING!!!
