Question: If BDS ever sustained any kind of damage...

I thought about this today...If BDS sustained any kind of damage from a storm and we could not repair it in time for football season, where would we play our home games? I thought first about Legion Field but wondered if we would go back there in that case. There is no place except for AU that has a stadium within the state that could hold the crowds we have. That brought the question...what would we do? Any thoughts???

I really doubt Legion Field.

In this state, Jordan-Hare is the only facility that comes close to having the capacity that would be needed. But how do you work out the logistics with Auburn?

It would be a tough scenario for sure. I'd hate it but we might end up playing every game on the road.

It would be a major haul, but I could see us going to the Georgia Dome or even LP Field in Nashville. I would guess though that Legion Field would be our first option, unless it was going to be a huge game.

The Georgia Dome would be the logical substitute. Only it doesn't hold as many as BDS. Would have to schedule games around GA Tech and The Falcons but it could be done and they'd welcome our sellout crowds. CNS would find some way to use it as a recruiting tool. Maybe spread it around and do a few games in the Super Dome, Joe Robbie Stadium, Orlando and Jerry World as well. Nashville would also be good, but we don't recruit a lot in that area.

games would NOT be played at auburn, UA and tuscaloosa would no way concede that money from game days to its mortal enemy.

Playing all games on the road or neutral locations would be a better choice, considering Legion field is still used by UAB some saturdays.

What does UAB use Legion Field for? I know they don't play football.:D

I thought about that when I saw on the news how close it was to the stadium when it happened. I thought Legion field to but I must admit I haven't seen Legion field in many many years. Kinda miss the old place sometimes ( from a sentimental standpoint that is lol)

I wouldn't trust Legion field to not collapse under a sell out crowd at this point. Not to mention that part of Birmingham would almost guarantee safety problems.

Look at it the other way around. What if Jordan-Hare suffered damage and they had to play elsewhere. Would they be welcomed with open arms into Bryant-Denny? I know they usually don't have sell outs and could play in smaller stadiums but I still doubt they would be welcomed into the New Big House. The Ga. Dome could easily accomodate them as well as Troy St. or one of the local High Schools would prolly work for them.

I would not rule out Stark Vegas if the scheduling worked out, also Mobile and Montgomery. Jordan Hare would never happen IMO, the food is terrible there.....and there is something else about that place that rules it out.

One of two things would happen. First, the Bear is looking down so no tornado would dare hit BDS. Second if it did, then there would be a couple of hundred thousand workers making sure it was ready for game day.

In realistic terms, I would rather see games in Atlanta.

Slightly OT, but one thing I noticed at A-Day while standing at the front of the stadium (near the statues). One of the supports under the expansion on that side of the stadium has moved out of position slightly. You can see it from the ground.

Doesn't look dangerous or anything, but I think Mal Moore needs to have it investigated and corrected.

Always thought we should play an Iron Bowl there. Wouldn't be able to see a damn thing but wow, the spectacle.
I see some people have never been to the infield of Talladega. Between the fences and concrete there would be a lot of injuries but would be interesting to see a football game and a race at the same time. Nevermind, we already do that, one is on TV though.
