Home Prices Drop Again

Gas Prices Continue Heading Up

9.4% Unemployment? Hardly.

43 Million on Food Stamps

Middle Class Hurting

We need an optimist for president. Kudo's to him for that. But we also need a president who's based in reality. Parting words "The state of the union is good" didn't leave me with the warm fuzzies.
It is definitely better than 2 years ago at this time. I know people who were stuggling to get a job for awhile, and just recently found one. We still have a long way to go before we are out of the woods, but we are going in the right direction.

Not sure if the tax cuts are to blame or the billions upon billions we give away to other countries at everyturn and the billions we waste on social programs that are being sucked off of by people that have no business on them? Or have we just decided these monies don't count anymore? Let me keep more of my money and I can assure I'll put it back into the economy without me being forced. But you know, the government knows how to use my money better than I do.

I'm not sure we're going to see "better days". I think we've seen or are starting to see the last of "good paying" factory jobs. They're being replaced with $10-$12 per hour employees with less benefits. Also, there are millions of people having to accept jobs that are outside their field just to make ends meet. A lot of this is to do with company's downsizing or moving jobs overseas. But the jobs these people are taking more than likely are less paying jobs. So as discussed in other threads over the years, that family with a $20-$28/hr wallet now comes in (if that come in at all) with a $10-$14/hr wallet.

Just wait untill $4.00 + a gallon gas and see what that does to not only our economy but the world in general. Folks I'm afraid we have not seen the worst yet.

Here in LA we are at 3.30 for regular and 3.55 for super premium give or take a cent or two.
Here in North Alabama regular $2.95ish, diesel $3.35ish. I have a buddy, who's family runs a small oil distribution company along with 5 or 6 convience stores, he says regular will be greater than $3.50 a gallon by the start of summer.

Not over, but signs of recovery. Dow hit 12000 today. Unemployment was going up when the new Admin took office, and seems to be headed downward.

Glass half empty/glass half full.

i don't pay any attention to the Dow (in regards to the state of the economy)...I watch Starbuck's. Every store around here is booming, with parking lots full all day long.
