I'm still getting pop-ups. Anyone else getting them?

I'm still getting the Bush pop-up and maybe some more even though I've downloaded the Google pop-up thingy.

Google has stopped 9 today but some are still popping up. I just got one about consolidating your accounts. Oh, and by the way, when I'm on other boards today I don't get the pop-ups.

Micro-soft internet explorer is killing me for the past week.Aol is my browser and they have their own pop-up control but evidently it isn't working.

Methinks I'm gonna have to make a call to them; this is such utter nonesense that I'm having to endure!

Think I'll go over to Wal-Marts and watch the trucks unload!

It's really odd, because I can see PS blocking them, but I'm not seeing it. Yesterday, however, one managed to install an adware Trojan that tried to "phone home" to Globalads.com about every 15 seconds, until I rubbed it out. I have my firewall set to prompt me when any program I haven't approved tried to get out, but this one was ridiculous - every 15 seconds!?!?

I think the surest way is to invest a little and get a personal firewall or router. Norton makes a good combination of virus protection and personal firewall...plus it has pop-up blockers. I have the Norton PF and never see a pop-up on here anymore.

I use the google toolbar at work and it does a good job, but I don't want the spyware on my home PC.

You may not have logged on that site, but some malware, probably a popup, or even dragging your mouse across the wrong dialog box, has planted a trojan-like file on your machine that's producing the popups. If you download SpyBot (free) from PCWorld or CNET, it'll find and stop it. I had a friend that got one on his work computer - it promised three strategic inches on a vital anatomy part. I was helping him get rid of it when one of the government auditors happened by (his company does a lot of government contracts). While she was in front of his machine, it popped up. He said that the explanation was very awkward and he didn't think she believed him...
