Antifreeze consumption/introduction does not kill you.
What kills you is that the liver enzymes break down ethylene glycol into other substances, one of which is ammonia. And THAT is what kills you.
Furthermore, the chosen antidote to ethylene glycol poisoning - in a pinch - is alcohol. Yes, as in wine etc.
The enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase has a greater affinity for normally consumed alcohol than for the poison, so it will BREAK DOWN THE BOOZE FIRST and thus you can spare the chemical breakdown that causes death.
