“It’s a personal game,” he said. “It’s a big game, but I’m going to treat it like any other game.”

A former four-star recruit, Grant was rated the No. 5 all-purpose back by Rivals, but he was moved to defense early in his tenure with the Crimson Tide.

“It was really just spring ball after coach tried me at corner and the things I was getting recruited for, I wasn’t really doing,” Grant said. “I figured around that time, maybe I need to get into a spread offense.”

I was having a discussion about Corey Grant the other day with an Aubie. I was trying to see if he knew of a single player on their team that would start for Alabama.

I never thought for once when Grant signed with Bama that he was going to a RB (at Alabama). I never saw him as a good fit for RB at Alabama.

Rock on, Corey. Impatience about playing time and refusing to be developed by our staff cost you two NC rings that you'll never get now, buddy.

He would have been like Dee Hart, who would have done more had it not been for injuries.

That was my thinking when I first saw his comments. It's personal because he regrets the decision to transfer.

I wouldn't rule out Tre Mason, Sammie Coates, and Dee Ford.
And Montavious Adams

Nick Marshall, at defensive back.

The kid has speed to burn, his physical gifts would've fit in nicely. He let his ego, and possibly troopah, cloud his thinking. It's personal because Alabama won without him, just as promised to some recruits.

Chances are, if he had stayed at Bama, he would have had his shot at rb last yr when both Fowler and Hart went out with season-ending injuries. He HAS to know that and it's pretty obvious to me that he's bitter about it.

I'm sure all the Boogs will want to spoil Alabama's quest for a three-peat. That being said, I can see AJ having a fun day in passing to Bell, White, Coop, Howard, et al. I know Coach will force Marshall into throwing the ball which is definitely not his strong suit. Malzahn will use a bunch of trick plays. That being said, while I don't expect the domination exhibited in last year's Iron Bowl, I can't see the Tide losing.

What seems bitter to you? I am not seeing it.
The simple phrase "It's a personal game" is what says that to me. He has an axe to grind and thinks he was done wrong by our coaching staff. It all makes sense to me, especially when you consider that his decision to leave cost him at least two NC rings.

Tre Mason reportedly just said that he was going to "go off" on Saturday. Keep 'em coming.
just like he went off last year.

typical barners. I have never seen a team and fanbase truly reflect each other more than this cult. pathetic.

Grant never looked really happy when he verbally committed to Bama in his HS gym.
just a wierd feeling I had since he was an obvious barner growing up, you can tell his heart wasn't in it hence his impatience to develop.

I hate that he feels that way, but frankly that's a representation we never made to him as a recruit, and instead we made it pretty obvious that, while we would try to incorporate him at tailback in some situations a scat back, we were also going to give him a look at slot WR and DB, as well as in the return game, and that he would be a multi-dimensional player for us.

To the extent that he thought he was going to be an every-down back in Tuscaloosa, well, that was just wishful thinking on his part, and FWIW the same has held true even on the Plains. Even with Auburn's run-heavy offense, he's still averaging only about five (5) carries per game, so I'm not sure what he expected or currently expects.

I'm not going to say anything bad about the kid because he's always been pretty cordial addressing UA since his departure, and his exit was on fairly amicable terms, but I'll just say that I don't believe there is much of a factual basis to what he is saying now.
