This article is a must-read.

Sadly, I don't see leadership in the US with the vision needed to make the moves to leverage the potential positive outcomes. I fear the future is going to be even more funneling of wealth from the many to the few.

The only way to fix it is with an adjustable corporate tax policy. Otherwise, the government can only inflate away the accumulated wealth of the ultra rich while the rest of us grow poorer.

The American consumer/taxpayer is just a tool.

I guess the societal problem with AI progressing (in a material way) to the point of replacing them, is people will continue to have to take less and less paying jobs or be unemployed. Then at that point, the government has an enormous issue. It seems their tax base drastically shrinks and either they are going to subsidize these underemployed and unemployed people, or it could get ugly with the efforts people will go to to survive.

I asked this question at a conference a few months ago.

How do you make a profit off AI when the people who develop and license AI keep raising the price of AI such that the AI vendor consumes the profits off the efficiencies derived from using AI?

If you are in a business that relies heavily on the use of technology, then you know what Im saying is the emerging reality. Im doing more than ever but not making anymore money because the cost of operations keeps increasing.

Just got to thinking, in business it was always impressive to say...

"I will have my poeple talk with your people."

But in the near future we will likely be saying...

"I will have my machine talk with your machine."

And it may be the same machine...

Makes sense - there's a reason the huge companies are dumping literal billions of dollars into building the supercomputers to run their Ai software, and it's not altruism...

I can envision AI designing the game plan for offense and defense as well as deciding which plays to run and when to do it.
Holy smokes, I hadn't even thought of that! Man, if I'm calling plays up in the booth, I sure would be tempted to use AI.

I'm not sure how the accumulated wealth of the 1% can be "inflated" away. Most of their wealth is invested in the market or tied up in their own companies whose worth is going up with inflation. The only people being "inflated" away are the lower middle class and the poor, whose assets, if any, are likely in bank accounts.

We are just along for the ride and our seats keep getting moved further to the back. Until the backlash against big government also translates into backlash against the ultra-rich and corporate America we will not improve our lot in life.

Right now big government is losing against the Big n Rich.
