Great to get the win. Sloppy overall performance. Hendrix is in for a great year from the looks of things. Steele did not have his best game but is a Stud. Got to improve from the foul line.

AG has obviously gotten better and that will only make us more potent. But, Steele is the best pt guard in America and you have 2 think that not having a day to rest has affected his knee. We have games coming up that should allow him some rest. The mark of a very good team is finding ways to win even when you aren't clicking on all cylinders. We seem to have as Bill Rafferty calls it , "spurtability" and being able to do that is key, as in going on 8 to 10-0 runs.

I wasn't trying to put any player down but just remarking about how well the others players are picking up their scoring when Steele isn't...its a good thing!
I agree. Bama does not need Steele to lead in scoring every game. He'll probably average the most, but hopefully, any given game will have a different leading scorer.

Does anybody know how Iowa or Xavier were projected to finish this year? I hope these turn out to be RPI top 100 wins for us on a neutral court.

Don't know about Iowa (they looked pretty horrible against 'Nova before our game), but Xavier will probably be an NCAA tournament team. Quality win tonight.

I don't know the answer, but Xavier looked good for 2 thirds of the game. Very good defense and a quick ball handler and some smooth shooters.

Iowa looked like they can shoot better than they did against Bama. Some of their problem was due to Bama's defense, but they did miss some good looking open shots (as did Bama).

I'm hoping they are good teams.

I agree. I didn't see the early game tonight. Iowa looked a little slow against Bama and Xavier looked better.

Bama was on fire for a brief time in tonight's 1st half. If they had shot like that against Iowa, that game wouldn't have been close.

Athlon predicts Xavier winning the A-10 and Iowa 9th in the Big 10(11 teams), and going to the NIT. Iowa is a good team but very young as they only returned 5 players, 2 of which(Henderson and Haluska) averaged more than 20 minutes a game last year.

Good game tonight on a night when a lot went wrong. For those that couldn't watch, I would not read too much into the box scores as far as Ron goes. He had a great game but just passed up a lot of shots. We pounded it inside to Hendrix whenever possible as they had no real answer for him and Jermareo. Riley stepped up and played well tonight.

I think Iowa and Xavier will both be viewed as quality wins in the end. RPI top 100, and probably 50. Seems like Iowa will be middle of the Big 10 somewhere. There were unbeatable last year at home, but I don't know if they retained their major players.

In any case, I think we have a lot to be proud of already for this team, and a lot to look forward to this season.

Personally I thought it was a very good win. Great tourny overall, complaining about HOW we win these games is a good thing IMO, the standards and expectations are going up. And they should be.

Cause Xavier made the tourny last year, came close to beating Gonzaga in the first round, only lost one key player and brought in a good transfer in Drew Lavender from Oklahoma.

Really like how we turned it up and took over late. I was worried about this game.

I think this team has a ton of potential. We didn't play all that well and still won fairly easily down the stretch. I just pray we can stay injury free this year. We are developing youth that is really going to help us in the sec this year. Gee can absolutely jump out of the gym and riley still gets in double digits w/o lighting it up behing the 3 line.

Very exciting team and a very exciting time to be an alabama basketball fan. I can't wait to see this team in coleman this year!

watching the game?
LOL ! I'm watching the replay on TS/SS . I became so caught up with all of the "visor" talk that I chose the replay as opposed to joining the game in progress . I'm guilty of a terrible oversight . CRS , I guess . Bet I'm not the only one . We were 10th in the USAT poll before the game , now we are 8th .
