I don't remember his exact words but when Saban was hired he said something to the tune of "we're going to be so tough other teams wont want to play us". He was right too, even as recent as the Michigan playoff game the media was saying things like here comes "Big, Bad Alabama". Who thinks we are that today? NOBODY does. Nobody is scared to play us because we are not tough, we are not "Big & Bad" and that's all vanished under the stewardship of this coaching staff. They should be embarrassed and ashamed to have allowed this to vanish in the blink of an eye.

Yeah I don't see this BAMA team saying "make his azz quit!" This isnt the PAC 12, this is the SEC. What are we doing?

I'm curious what happens if Alabama goes into November with only two wins. After watching the last four games, and looking at the schedule, I think that's very possible.

I just don't know how a program like Alabama, with the talent on the team, can bring DeBoers back for a 3rd year. I now FSU brought Novell back after a two-win season, but he had success the prior two years and had a team depleted of talent last year.

Alabama just looks worse from week to week, and now season to season.
He also fired his coordinators and hired a head coach as one of the replacements. Gus is gonna get norvell an extension when it’s all said and done. If kd is willing to admit he’s not some kind of schematic genius ala Charlie Weiss and change the way they do offense and completely clean house on d then sure give him another year

If this does not turnaround soon; I fear the overwhelming negativity that currently surrounds the program will lead to our great recruiting class being decimated.

at 56, i just don't want to waste time hoping they decide to show up and play.
Gawd, you're old.......I won't be 56 until next month.....:)

Just a little light heartedness from a bad weekend and brutal thread.

You can't fire him now, period, not just economics but what coach out there in his right mind is thinking, "They sure were patient with the guy and he got a fair shake."

I "get" he's following a legend.
I "get" he's got some things to work out.
I "get" that the problem isn't that we're losing, it's the how.

(For those who don't recall - Stallings began 0-3, but we were IN all of those games, we turned the ball over quite a bit, and we had 2-3 stars go down for the season that necessitated adjustment. Until we dumped in the bed in the Fiesta Bowl that year, we actually flipped 0-3 into 7-4, losing only a defensive struggle to Penn State).

But one of the things that hurt us badly in the wilderness years was the total lack of any continuity at head coach. If you include Kines as the interim in the bowl game, we had six head football coaches at Alabama between November 18, 2000 and January 4, 2007.

We've got to ride this year through and then someone is going to have to set some benchmarks of achievement for 2026.

I dont think CKD is a bad coach but I do think he is struggling. Whatever his methods are they have produced over 100 career wins and less than 20 career losses. Now his methods are not getting the same results. He may not be able to adjust. He may not be able to grind in the way that is demanded of top 2 SEC teams. I think that is why we see the deer look. He doesnt know why this is not working the same way it has for all his career.

He has coached very few players throughout his career had business decisions to make. Whether we want to admit it, before NIL, we had a lot of players making business decisions in their but it was for the hope of the NFL. Now you have guys who will never see the NFL getting paid making business decisions in their play. Now you have guys who know they are locks for the NFL making business decisions for their play.

Truth is, there is no one on our sideline coach or player chasing glory for themselves or for the love of the university. Everyone is making business decisions.

This here x 100. Do I think CKD is in over head? Yep. Do I think he truly didn’t have a firm grasp on what it takes to be successful at Alabama and in this conference? Absolutely. Is there a huge difference in “football culture” is his other stops versus our culture here? Yep. Is it time to “cut bait”? Nope. Got to try to weather the storm.

Exit question: Over and over we continue to hear these coaches talk about “instilling confidence” in the players and the team in general. So after watching CKD and his assistants during games and in pressers, does anything THEY say or do instill ANY confidence in you as a fan that they are capable of getting the job done and finding success? And if they can’t do it for you as a fan, how in the heck can we expect them to instill confidence in our players?

I mentioned this in a passing way somewhere else.

But my thing is if he does his job which is to Catch the Ball and be WR1 at best or W2 at worst then it’s a non issue.

He can paint his nails and wear a dress if he wants.

But he gets out physicaled by CBs and re-routed a lot and he’s afraid to get hit.

He drops the ball too much and in critical situations.

So considering all that and how much he’s paid this isn’t a good look in the world he operates in… CFB.

He should try to emulate everything about Smitty.

Be the Best Player on the Field and lead by example.

Be an MVP.

Then you can be Prince off the field.

I could see us losing 6 sec games this year and not making a bowl game. We would have to make a change, but the problem is who do you go after that would take the job. Would Kiffin leave ole miss, i really dont want prime from colorado, and i cant think of anyone else.
Kiffin would absolutely walk to Tuscaloosa for the job. We won’t consider him because he hurt too many feelings.
