Over the course of my fandom, I've seen the leash shrink from giving a coach five years to three years, to get his team in place, and now no years. In the NIL era, you have to win NOW. For the amount of money the coaches and players make, there's no excuse. There is no more developmental football; that needs to happen at FBS and Group of 5 schools. This is mercenary ball and you're going to have to assemble the best team each year to win.

Even with NIL, sometimes it takes time to develop a winning football program, and this includes a coach’s program starting from a very successful existing program. I can’t say what or if anything internal needs to change, but unless CKD is the second coming of Ears Witworth (or maybe Dubose), he deserves at least 3 years, if not 4 years.
