My dad had a subscription when I was growing up and I had one for a number of years as an adult but it’s been years since I read it. I didn’t know it was now a monthly magazine.

All good things come to an end and I suspect SI will soon be one of those things.

Print media is dead on the vine. There are lots of tweets regarding controversial positions they have taken lately, but I really think it's just because they can't keep up with espn.com, The Athletic, or Twitter.

Like a number of longstanding magazine brands (Newsweek and US News come to mind), they're basically just a crappy website that bought the rights to the name. The current SI owners lost the rights to keep using it because they missed a payment. Someone else could buy it and keep the brand going but they're probably also going to be terrible.

Exactly. I quit looking at SI years ago just because it was basically old news rehashed and it insisted on loading memory hogging video ads. USAToday has now limited me to 2 views per month now. I quit them too.

I didn’t know they were no longer in the Time family.

They sold it off in 2018 and it's changed hands a couple of times since.
