Is there a 'Mobile TideFans' site?

Is there a mobile version of TideFans?? I have an iPhone, and when I am on WiFi or 3G, it real web version is great... but when I am in the woods hunting and am stuck on AT&T's terribly slow EDGE network, TideFans takes forever to load. It seems like I used to remember getting on a mobile TideFans on my iPod Touch before I got an iPhone. What do the other iPhone users do when getting on TideFans, especially if you are on EDGE. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The browser on my Blackberry picks the site up just fine. I haven't had any problems navigating it. It would be nice if we had a link app similar to the one ESPN has, to put on my home screen.

I'm far from an expert on mobile access, but, from what I've read, I thought that "Edge" was barely adequate for email and the like. Ads are the only thing which keeps this site afloat and ads take time to load...

Earle's right. AT&T's "Edge" network is awfully slow to transmit the scripts that contain the ads, and most of the time, a Blackberry device doesn't show them anyway.

I used to have a Windows Mobile device that handled the site beautifully. I had to switch back to Blackberry in September and... well... I'm better off just waiting until I can get back to my laptop or one of my desktop systems to get here.

Windows Mobile and Apple's IPhone software are starting to run circles around RIM. I love my Blackberry, but if they don't catch up without making me pay through the nose, they're gone like yesterday.

You know you can save a link to a webpage on you home screen...it wouldnt be an app, but maybe a little quicker than tapping Safari, then typing tidefans in. Just go to TideFans and then tap the '+' icon at the botton by the bookmark icon, and 'Add to Homescreen'.

The ads are the problem on my iPhone. If it is loading the Football board, for example, all the thread links load before the ads, so if you tap a thread, it waits and the ads pop up, which moves all the threads down. This usually means where you tapped is a different thread so then I have to reload the page and try again...frustrating.

I don't know if you can use Chrome on the iPhone or if you're stuck with Safari. If you can use Chrome, it will report back to you that a script is running slowly and give you the option of killing that script...

Pretty sure Im stuck with Safari...Oh well. It really isnt that much of a problem except when I am deep in the woods with no 3G speed. I guess Ill just have to be patient, but its not like I am in a hurry when Im just sitting there in the woods.

I just installed Opera Mini on my Blackberry and it is a light year faster loading the site. More features and options too.

Opera Mini - Download

Beat me to it. I've run Opera Mini on every Blackberry I've ever had and it is miles ahead of RIM's standard browser. It has a few navigational quirks that you have to get used to (like entering text in search fields), but it is tons faster. I highly recommend it for BB users.

EDIT: By the way, you can download Opera Mini over-the-air right on your BB if you want. The Opera Mini site should have instructions.

When I type in TideFans on google on my phone it automatically converts it to a mobile site because it has the little phone symbol and at the top of the page it says "Tidefans.com Mobile"

So, maybe you can try typing it in on google from your phone? :conf2:

The problem is that the IPhone uses a webkit based browser, much like Android and the newest Windows phones. The biggest difference is that, on the IPhone, you can't choose to view the site as a mobile site (Browser setting not site setting), and you get the full desktop web browser view. It would be nice to either have the site detect the IPhone and use the mobile skin or, better yet, give you the option to select a mobile skin.

I have a cheap Samsung flip phone with T Mobile internet and Tidefans works great. It loads fast and I have no complaints. I am able to type in TideFans.com - THE Home of the BamaNation into my T Zones browser.

That's because you are, in fact, loading the mobile skinned version of the site and not the full version on your phone. It's only some webkit browsers that Tidefans doesn't recognize as mobile browsers that have the problem.
