Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

I looked up composite rankings and they're... interesting.

While we can debate the actual positions, their top 12 makes a lot of sense.

Also, I was trying to think of a better ranking system, and based on the one I made up in my head Alabama would be 9th.

Then I got curious and decided to ask an AI chat bot where they would rank Alabama, once I pressed them they said: "7th or 8th" which is in line where computers seem to be putting Alabama (not that I'd give a chat bot the power to decide but I was curious). Logically, if you actually crunch the numbers Alabama is a top 10 team...

I’ve said the entire time it will be tv viewership and revenue based on many of these decisions. The committee will never admit that, but we know it

same reason they would love to squeak Miami in if they could
TV viewership and revenue are about as synonymous with the U as ditch water and vinegar are with Dom Perignon '98.

The committee knows that but they will never unbutton their shirts or blouses to reveal the figurative "We Want 'Bama" tees they're all sporting, either.

'Bama gets the eyes and the dollar signs of ad revenue like no other, and having Nick Saban's successor bringing an underdog (and underperforming) Tide to the big stage will draw the multitudes of haters along with we many, many hopers. Bama's in regardless of other outcomes this weekend - well, anything short of Howard Hughes resurrecting himself to play QB and lead UNLV over the Boysenberries in Vegas - and even that wouldn't keep 'Bama out. IN - end of story.

I agree, and the playoffs are done like the 4-team playoff, where #1 plays #128, #2 plays #127, etc...
Drop the regular season and just go with a 128 team playoff...single elimination...some teams will only play 1 game. :p

Oh, yeah...make the portal open to all players after week 6...

Now I actually got a chuckle out of your post. But I am seeing post here about how this is not our fathers "Bama team" . No its not and CKD needs to get control over his team and he needs to go thru process training after seeing what he put on the field this year. Ask Bill Curry or any other Bama coach that didn't play here or coach as an assistant. To a man and I quote this loosely. " I did not expect the intensity of what coaching at Alabama meant to so many people. Now I do. We as fans have that level of expectation. It was instilled in me as a youngster watch Coach Bryant on the sidelines and every Sunday afternoon during the season. I think we give him a pass on year 1 and year 2 is his litmus test.

OK, let's go nuts.

Expand the playoff to 128 teams. It's only three more rounds and everybody in the FBS is in, so there's no whining about who got left out.

Everybody gets a trophy!

Couldn't decide whether to use blue font or not.
I can already hear the bottom six FBS teams that are left out complaining...

What I find curious, is that some, even on here, had said that it doesn't really matter who comes in number 12 because the number 12 team is never gonna win the championship. And yet here we are hoping to eke our way into number 12 in the playoffs.
I've never bought into that notion. I've always been of the mind that a 9-3 SEC team at 11 or 12, could be the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Despite our struggles , I guarantee you nobody really wants to face us.

For one game, yes. To run three games in a row? There’s a reason they’re 9-3 and it’s wholly inconsistent with winning it all.

I think you'll be surprised. There aren't really any teams who have been as consistent as you are saying. Oregon is really the only one. Georgia has 2 losses, but very easily could've added a few more. The same goes for just about every team in the field. And losing 3 games in the SEC is pretty much akin to losing 1 or 2 elsewhere. I could totally see it happening maybe not with us, but only bc our QB puts a ceiling on us, but if a 9-3 SEC team avoids any other SEC teams until say the semis? I certainly wouldn't want to face them, especially if they had our quality wins.

For a 9-3 team from another conference, you're absolutely right, but from the SEC? I think it happens within 4 years.
