It's shockingly expensive to attend a game at BDS

Hotel prices are nuts. I was in Tuscaloosa for work the week of a game a couple years ago. Don't remember the opponent but it wasn't an SEC or FCS game.

Anyway, every morning when I got on my phone the hotel internet took me to the hotel's home page where it said I could get a room that night starting at $79. The last morning I was there was Friday (day before the game) and it said I could get a room starting at $279.

The last time I tried to get a room in T-town it was required 2 night minimum on game day weekends. That’s $558 plus tax for 2 nights just on hotel fees. That is Ridiculous!

Well, that's probably $100 now, so...
This year purchased tickets to the Vandy game from the University Website and they were $75 each. Cost $450 plus a handling fee for six of us to that game. That was south upper deck about half way up.

Bigger conference games were even more expensive.

I have season tickets. I'm well aware of the costs.

I was making a point about inflation and the illogical comparison of ticket prices across decades of time...

I know I'm an "oldtimer" around here, but I remember going to games when I was a kid in the 70's and the face value on many of those tickets was $15.
And $3000 bought you a brand-new Camaro in the 70s.

Which means - after doing some very, very simple math - that ticket prices were relatively more expensive in the 70s. Interesting...

If people would stop paying the prices they would go down. We don't eat at the stadium. There's nothing there that's worth me paying those types of prices. The only time we eat at the stadium is when we go to a Texas Rangers home game and sit in the leftfield section, where the ticket comes with "all you can eat" ballpark food. That is worth it. But if we don't do that, we eat before the game.

72-76 for me. And I should have said that was more than tuition for a whole year or two semesters. IIRC, tuition was between $500-600 per semester.
It was $237 a semester when I started at Bama; but I only made $1.50 an hour working in the ETV studio

Last Super Bowl in New Orleans (2010), 4 buddies got a room at a local Super 8 Motel for $800/night, with a 4 night minimum. Plus, each of them was charged a $50 parking fee even though they didn't drive in.

This all makes me sad. I’ve had TP seats since 2001. I could sell them and more than break even with a little work. However tailgating and watching games is a favorite part of my family’s year. It’s worth a little money. We don’t eat the junk food in BDS, we bring potluck tailgate food and eat like kings for the same money we’d spend at home. We enjoy the time with our kids and friends. We enjoy participating in the action and supporting the team.
Sorry but I think some of these posters are the ones who really stand out as less-than-serious fans. They’re rather prevalent at cupcake games. I appreciate the attendance of any Bama fan and suggest y’all enjoy the many positives of a Saban game in Tuscaloosa.

My son wanted a lemonade last night. I said Okay, gave him $10 bill he came back with $1. Apparently beer and lemonade cost the same in BD now. The rest of the concessions have gone through the roof too. A conecuh hot dog cost $10.

I have been a loyal ticket holder since 98. But thus season going cashless and introducing beer to the concession experience, I have yet to make it through the concession line without missing virtually all of the 2nd qtr.

The whole excursion is getting absurd.
As an individual that lives in Tulsa and can’t get the conecuh brand anywhere near here. I’d pay that, them wieners slap!
