Oh yeah-yeah,sure I have been paying attention, Yer the National champs for crying out loud! So you think my prediction of us scoring 34 is a bit much? What say you JT...gimmie a score.
You really haven't been paying any attention to Saban's defenses over the years have you?

I expect Michigan to play their usual mind-numbingly predictable Big 10 style defense, and it'll get out of hand pretty early. At the same time, I don't see us running up the score, and at some point in the mid-3rd quarter or so, we'll go vanilla running game. 35-10 sounds about right.

I think Michigan scoring 34 is waaay to much.. but i do think Bama scores 34... Michigan 10. Denard tends to throw the ball up for grabs when pressured.. and he will be pressured.

Last year's team and all, but...

In 2011, Michigan scored 34 or more points in seven games. They were:
Western Michigan: 34
Notre Dame: 35
Minnesota: 58
Northwestern: 42
Purdue: 36
Nebraska: 45
Ohio State: 40

Those teams were ranked, in total defense:
Western Michigan: 99
Notre Dame: 30
Minnesota: 77
Northwestern: 80
Purdue: 73
Nebraska: 37
Ohio State: 19

They were ranked, in scoring defense:
Western Michigan: 76
Notre Dame: 24
Minnesota: 93
Northwestern: 66
Purdue: 63
Nebraska: 42
Ohio State: 27

Michigan was ranked 26th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 33.31 ppt.

By way of comparison, Alabama was ranked 20th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 34.85 ppt. We did that playing five (six, counting LSU twice) teams ranked in the top 30 in total defense.

And oh yeah, our defense was #1 in every meaningful statistic that's kept.

Only three teams have scored 34 or more points on us since CNS arrived, two of them were in year one when he was trying to salvage what he inherited and lost six games. In the following four seasons, one team has scored 34 or more points, that's USC (35) in 2010.

Is it possible that Michigan scores 34?

Sure, it's possible.

But it's an infinitesimally small chance. I wouldn't hang my hopes on scoring 34 on Alabama - you better be ready to stop an offense that should be better than last year (when it averaged almost 35 ppg).

Roll Tide.

Great post. Not only very insightful. It also backs up why I stated I think Michgan scoring 34 is way to much but Bama scoring 34.(34-10 us is my prediction) To win i see Michigan having to score 35 or more.. possible? yes. Highly unlikely? Even more so.

With the make-shift DLine they about to place on the field, I don't see how their offense stays on the field long enough to score that many points. Unless, the Bama D scores and scores and scores, that's the only way they stay out there that long. Michigan does have a chance. If the offense sputters under the new OC, the D shows inexperience on a bunch of plays, and the special teams don't rise up AND we get out coached then Michigan will win. It will have to be a perfect storm followed by multiple injuries. That's the only way it happens. Could it? Yes, but the chances are minute(small)!!

Hi. Michigan fan here. I think the gm is going to be A LOT closer than you guys are forecasting,
and will be decided by less than a TD.
Anybody want to take that bet? I'll put it in writing. http://bit.ly/PEkc7l
Hello and welcome to TideFans.

It just might be a close game. Who knows? We Crimson Tide fans are just doing what we love and predicting what we would love to see and that is a blowout. I assure you we'll be happy with a close win.

Winning is what matters, the rest is just for fun.

I would take that bet only I might get tricked by your superior northern intellect and so forth. So, no thank you.

Good luck. :BigA:
