I sincerely wish our state would legalize medical marijuana. I just finished 10 rounds of radiation week before last, had a port placed last Tuesday, and started chemo on Thursday. This is starting to take its toll, and I'd love to know if smoking a marijuana cigarette would make me feel better. I have absolutely no appetite and am nauseated most of the time. It's bound to help with that.

There is a CBD store across the street from my office. I'm going to try some of their Delta 8 (or is it 9) gummies and see if that helps. The Delta gummies are legal in Tennessee.

I don't feel terrible all the time, but I'm going to be glad to get all this chemo and radiation behind me. I finish the chemo sometime in March.
Damn man, I hate to hear this. I'm not the praying type, but I wish you all the best in reclaiming your health. And yes, I wish you had access to MM which absolutely does help. I haven't been keeping up, but I had heard that it was all but a done deal. I lost track after that, but hopefully it's real.

Hoping for the best in all of your treatments and your recovery. I have personally known others who have gone through chemo and weed eliminated the nausea. It’s a legit treatment for Crohn’s disease where it’s legal. If you get the opportunity try it, you won’t regret it. Try the CBD in the meantime it may help.
I worked offshore for almost 25 years, on boats; for the first 10 years of my career I was high 90% of the time (70s-80s). The only time I ever got seasick (once - and I saw plenty of rough weather) I wasn’t high.
If you’re worried about the “buzz”, just sleep it off; that should be easy to do.
Again, here’s hoping everything goes well and you find some relief during the treatment process.

Mia is finally doing better. She's about 10 pounds above her critical weight where organs don't function properly. She's able to go swimming twice a week now as of two weeks ago. Mia turned 15 in September and got her driver's permit so she's driving a lot.

Mia plays violin with the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra and they have been busy. Violin lessons are Wednesday night, and symphony rehearsal on Thursday. Last week the youth symphony played with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, so they had dress rehearsal on Friday night, then the performance on Saturday. There was a matinee and then an evening performance. Sunday, her violin instructor, who plays with the Jackson Symphony, asked Mia to play with her at a Lutheran service.

All of this is just to say she is getting her life back and is starting to be a kid again. It's been a HUGE load off of my wife and myself. Mia only goes to the doctor once a month now.

So thank you for asking, Tug. I think she's improving pretty quickly. She had been feeling poorly for almost two years.
That made my day @Go Bama thanks for sharing

I was unaware of your medical issues and wish you the best. I imagine it is worse for you as your primary focus is on your daughter's health. Glad to see she is continuing to progress and is doing well with her music.

FWIW, there is a CBD/THC store here called "The Little Green House," which is exactly what it is. There is a big sign on the front proclaiming "Legal THC." I bought some CBD gummies, which I haven't tried yet. (I just hate all gummies.) They do have a sign inside saying they won't ship out of state...

not a far drive to southern Illinois for you though know they have a daily quantity cap for out of state purchases it is fully legal

just pointing it out. Though the Delta whatevers are said to be essentially the same. I'd look into a local CBD store if I were you. Based on my Dad's experience with Chemo gummies can be very helpful

On Friday, Dr. Ankit Patel will become a pharmaceutical pioneer. He’ll be the first pharmacist to legally sell medical cannabis from a pharmacy counter in the United States.

“It’s awesome,” Patel said. “It’s historic.”

Patel’s Robins Pharmacy and two others in the same region, Omega Pharmacy and the Allen Pharmacy Group, are the first to get a state license to sell low-THC medical cannabis. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the part of the cannabis plant that produces a “high” — one of the key reasons doctors may suggest patients use medical cannabis to help with pain, nausea, insomnia and other issues. Products can include THC oil, tinctures, topicals, capsules and lozenges.

You can also purchase CBD, the non-high part of the plant. I have some CBD gummies, which I bought because I have a deep wound in my right forearm, but I haven't used them because I just hate gummies... :)

For those not living in Alabama, you might be surprised to know that medical marijuana passed the legislature.

You probably wouldn’t be surprised to know that they‘ve botched the licensing process. Here’s the deal:

There are 37 licenses available statewide. As you might imagine, there are far more applicants than there are licenses, and an appointed commission is supposed to determine who get licenses — The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission.

In June, they announced the winners. About a nanosecond after the public announcement, the decisions were challenged as being the result of an arbitrary and opaque process. In August, the original chairman of the commission resigned for vague reasons.

They started the process again and it again it was immediately challenged. As I’m writing this, the whole thing is in legal limbo. According to some news reports, they’re starting all over, but keeping at least one of the decisioning metrics (a rather opaque scoring process) that caused the problems in the first place.

The new chairman says to expect medical cannabis in the spring. If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, cheap……you know, for estate planning purposes.

Now the unanswered question: Was this whole thing a setup so the legislature could claim passage of the legislation — all the while knowing that it would never get to the point of delivery in their districts? Or was it simple corruption with the now-resigned original chairman getting favors of various sorts for choosing certain applicants over others?

Option #1 seems a bit intellectual for the cretins in the legislature. So I’ll go with the simplest option — good old-fashioned corruption.

That is pathetic.

The law was written in a very archaic manner, so there were bound to be problems.

Corruption makes those problems worse, especially when the resulting litigation grinds it all to a halt.

The Alaban should have known better and likely wouldn't have cared if they did.

I have used marijuana, cocaine, LSD, mushrooms. The last time I used any of those was forty years ago, so there is not like there is an inevitable line from casual use to becoming an addict or a derelict. My attitude on weed is I would not recommend it, but I would not ban it.

That said, I just saw this on fentanyl.

Over a quarter of a million Americans have died from a fentanyl overdose since 2018. In 2022, 73,654 people died from a fentanyl overdose in the US.

Holy smokes, I had no idea the death toll was that high.

And most of that Fentanyl is illicitly produced and hidden in other drugs without the user's knowledge.
