it's time that we start supporting our b-ball team. A lot of people say that we are just a football school. Well, we are a football school, but we are also becoming a basketball school. There is nothing wrong with having both. It makes your sports program look a whole lot better. We need to start supporting our team more and start filling Coleman coleseum up for every SEC game. Because if anyone hasn't noticed; the basketball team is the only men's sport that has really competed on a national level the last few years. And yet they still get no respect.
A lot of fans gripe and complain when the b-ball team loses and isn't doing good, but when they win and our having a year like they are this year, those same fans don't even show up to support them. That's pathetic! The University would be better without them kind of fans. And if you are one of them fans, then i'm talking to you. I know you can't make it to every single game; we are all busy people and everyone(even CMG) understands that. But if you have tickets, either come to the game, sell them, or give them away so that the seats will be filled and our boys feel like they have something to play for besides themselves. Because right now that's all they are playing for. There are more people that come to the gymnastics meet's than to b-ball games. Nothing against gymnastics, I love them and they are doing great and they deserve the same encouragement as the other programs do. they have won more championships the past 20 years than any program at Bama.
All i'm saying is, we show up 80000+ at football games. for 98% of the games at BDS, the seats are always almost full, if not full. Coleman Coliseum only hold around 15000, that is a whole lot easier to fill, but yet it still isn't filled. WHY NOT? I know we have a history in football, so what? That has nothing to do with our support of our basketball team. The "we are a football school" is not an excuse anymore, and should never have been onewhen the b-ball team loses and isn't doing good, but when they win and our having a year like they are this year, those same fans don't even show up to support them. I mean we have won 7 SEC championships in b-ball. We are currently 1 game down in the quest for our 8th SEC championship. So lets support our boys are we may be looking for another coach. No coach wants to coach where his team isn't supported by the fans.
Ok, i'm done, so ya'll don't yell at me too much. Just venting my frustration. Here's to the future of Alabama Basketball, because that future is very bright!!!!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!
