If you've ever read my posts concerning our players and their draft prospects, you know I am usually harder on our guys then most other fans.

Jake, though, has a few things that I think make him an attractive late round (5-7) pick.

First, he has an ideal body type. He's tall, carries enough weight to absorb punishment, and has good athletic ability.

He moves well in the pocket, has a strong enough arm to make all the throws, and can gain yards if the play breaks down.

He has improved each outing, has become more accurate with more reps, and seems to be a natural leader.

He reminds me of a raw version of Blake Bortles. If a team is willing to let him sit, learn, and work...I think he can have a good career. Even if just as a backup.

Well if the NFL doesn't work he can go work in Vegas as an Elvis impersonator.......
But he would rather be on Duck Dynasty.

Loved his growth thru the year!
Loved how well he played in the playoffs.

Biggest question is how well does he read coverages and how frequently can he go from the #1 read to the 2nd or 3rd?

He's got the tools, but holds on to the ball a bit and seems to make decisions a bit slowly. Things will only move faster in the NFL. I'd not be surprised if he's taken later in the draft or signs with a team afterwards, but I'm not sure he'll ever play. He could be the next Tom Brady, but most likely won't do much in the NFL - he hasn't shown the ability to quickly read and react, imo.

Jake has the measurables they love but he just needed more playing time. He got better every week. Unfortunately the NFL has no developmental league. If they still had NFL Europe or something like that he would have a much better chance. As for the slow release AJ McCarron had that problem somewhat as well but he certainly improved dramatically because his play in the NFL this year was very impressive.

I've never thought AJ had a slow release, maybe not Dan Marino-ish, but not slow.

AJ could progress through reads.

AJ could make quick decisions.

The Houston Texans DESPERATELY need a QB! In fact, if I had been their coach, I would have traded or released #7 at halftime of that poor excuse for a playoff game against the K C Chiefs.

... yes, but what they need is a starting QB. And they need that right now.

I am sure several teams in need of a QB are interested in Coker because of the measureables, his growth as a player, leadership, and championship ring. The rest, in large part, is up to him. If he continues to grow as a player, he can make it.

Funny! I started a thread in here a couple of months ago about how much Jake sounds like Elvis when he talks. I'm just waiting for him at the end of an interview to say "Thank you very much."

Coker looks good enough to get a shot, but the windows are so much tighter and the game so much faster in the NFL that there really is no way to know how well he will do. His problem is that his resume is not solid enough to land him a huge contract. That means that his window to prove himself is going to be very small. If he is drafted in the 6th round and never plays a snap, no one will even notice. I wish him well but have no idea how this will play out for him.

Be better than Landry Jones, that is for sure... Of course, I'm hoping the Steelers go for a RB so I never have to see Fritz carrying the ball like a loaf of bread again in the 4th Q.
Steelers have 2 very good running backs, Bell and DeAngelo Williams, unfortunately they were both injured..

As others have pointed out, Jake has two great things going for him. First, his body type. No need to belabor that. Second, he seems to be getting better and better. At a minimum, that makes him intriguing.

I would venture either late round or UDFA. Either way, some team is going to give him a real shot.
