Here's the bottom line to me. If you have some plays where JJ is throwing the ball, you need to practice them at some point in a real game situation. Otherwise, we're going to have a false start, or someone will run the wrong route, an incompletion...I just feel like if Shula is sandbagging a play for a specific team or date on the calendar then that's a mistake.

Not saying we should empty the playbook against FIU, but something special against FL or Tenn might have helped with another W.

A lightbulb just went off in my head
Maybe shula is sandbagging. Last year we beat Tenn and FL. Maybe he knows that this year it's not essential that we win against them like it is with Auburn?

Yeah, we are holding out on our great plays that will gain big yards, just like we did against Florida and Tennessee.

Perhaps early in the season before we play a big game, but not this time of year. Pure wishful thinking.
So...it seems like everyone thinks that we should never have some special plays or something hidden away for the Iron Bowl...if that's your opinion then I don't think you realize the magnitude of the rivalry. I think that Shula knows that if he doesn't beat the farmers some time in the near future that he will be looking for another job. I guarrantee that you may look back over history and see many plays in the Iron Bowl that neither Bama or Auburn had done all year...that's how important that game is. once again let me reittirate that I am not saying we were holding back against Tn or Florida. Shula went in with a gameplan that he thought would help us win...it almost worked both times...if I have a beef with Shula it's that many times he refuses to adjust the gameplan when the original stops working...but I think he's learning. Trying Johns at QB is an example. Anyways...I really hope that if Shula pulls out some plays that we haven't seen all year against LSU or Auburn that there aren't people complaining about how we should have seen those earlier in the year...let us remember what the most important game of the year is...I've told this to many people and I'll say it here as well...all the problems I've had with Shula will be forgiven if he just beats the farmers...if he does that...I could care less about the rest of the year

At least a couple of times we have lined Johns up at QB and the play has been whistled dead due to a false start penalty. It happened against Arkansas at least once.

I think Johns should line up at QB against MSU and throw a pass just to get back at Croom for saying Johns would never play QB at Alabama. A TD pass by him against MSU would be poetic justice.

I read or heard something somewhere where Mike Shula said that we havent even ran 1/5 of the plays we have at Jimmy at the QB spot and Jimmy says there are alot of things we have in that formation. The thing that I dont get is why dont they put Jimmy and KD back there together that will make it more exciting with KD having more speed than Tim but im not the coach and I like the little wrinkle Coach Shula puts back there.

If JPW can't go and thats the only way to get JJ in the game it works for me. He needs to be in the game one way or the other.

They should mix up the playcalling with JJ in the game. Maybe a rollout pass or play action. Hopefully they're saving some plays for the future. These would give a DC headaches.

That's what CGS did w/Deuce and Jay Barker. It always had the potential to go the distance with one play.:BigA:

In my unbiased, uneducated, unexperienced opionion (see, I'm honest), Shula seems to be loosening up the offense a little. By that I mean that it appeared that he was not as conservatinve as he was in past games.

There again, we played FIU.
