From what I could see, JoePa sits in the booth next to Jay Paterno & Galen Hall. He doesn't seem to make any decisions, at least not the times that he was on camera.

I thought that the 500 times the cameraman decided to focus on JP was almost cruel. It seemed almost as if they were trying to spotlight his detachment - lack of emotion or engagement...

I've actually looked that way a couple of times on the sidelines wondering what can we do next to stop the bleeding!

I think smart money would be on Penn State hiring Tom Bradley or Jay Paterno. Again, loyalty is quality #1 at Penn State, and that's not just toward Joe Pa. If one of those does not succeed Joe Pa, I would guess neither of them wanted the gig.

Doubt that it will be his son, he has a lot of detractors already among the PSU fanbase.

I agree with your predicted philosophy of keeping it in the family, but it's going to be hard if a top 3 coach comes calling. But it will also be hard to clean house the first go around. Tough decision. If they do keep the coaches, don't use the Nebraska measuring stick, consider their first few 8-9 win seasons promising.

Whenever Joe Pa does step down...Penn State will be able to get any coach they want...within reason. They have a great alumni base and have the tradition needed to be one of the top programs in the Big 10. With Ohio State falling apart...it's a perfect time for Penn State to step up and take control of the conference.

Of course none of this can happen with Joe Pa at the helm. He's a great coach...but he can't coach great right now.
