Not a joke but kind of a funny story.
I’m a big civil war/military history guy. Yesterday I spent the day with a group hiking the park at Shiloh. A buddy of mine, Tim Smith led about 30 of us through about 10 miles of hills, ravines and swamps.
On these military park hikes, we usually have people with various military backgrounds joining us. There was one quote from a young fellow in the group that I’m still chuckling at today.
Dr. Tim Smith was discussing the placement and direction of various artillery pieces (cannon) on the field and strategies from previous wars. A retired colonel brought up the Napoleonic War and Waterloo and the use on cannon in that engagement. Dr. Smith then asked “Do we have anyone else with military service experience here?” This young guy raises his hand and said,
“Yes Sir! I was a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps. The main thing they taught us was how to duck….”
