Re: Kevin Steele will be Louisville DC

I see it differently. Kevin may have been encouraged to 'Explore Other Opportunities'.
Highly doubtful because Steele didn't have an on-the-field position and the media was praising him yesterday, something they didn't do for Doug Nussmeier.

Only thing confusing to me is I always heard Steele was ready for a less taxing schedule and something that didn't involve the daily grind of an on-the-field coach. Something along the lines of the timing in his life, his kids' lives, etc... that he was ready to devote less time to a job. So the off-the-field position seemed to be a great fit. Guess that wasn't entirely correct or he changed his mind and missed all the other.

For some reason, Steele will not go to Louisville for a few more weeks. Not sure why.

I want to say he has family in the area maybe West Blocton. Seems like I remember hearing something about this a few years ago when he first came on board. Maybe that is holding him here...

I'm guessing he got a raise to stay put, probably pretty good one. Also, might be some staff shuffling going on and he could be back on the field next year for us, who knows.

One of our assistant principals is good friends with Coach Martin, who is Director of Player Development (I think that's his title.) Anyway, the asst prin told me Coach Martin is retiring. I know he works with defense, and he is on the field, so could that possibly play into why Steele is staying?

Well coach Petrino doesn't care at all about defense. All their best athletes will end up on offense. Smart move to stay at Bama.
