That guy needs to try out attempting some stand-up comedy . I loved it when he said there were no Americans in Iraq . Um Quaser(sp?) is in Kuwait , etc. . However , his most ridiculous statement never receives any mention - "The Americans were defeated at the airport . The Americans used a NUCLEAR BOMB at the airport and were still defeated by our forces ."
Man, those guys were tough!

Now that sounds about right.

Earlier the Nebraska paper, naturally, made it sound like Saban offered the job straight up to Watson and that he told him that he was going to stay at Nebraska. I was a bit fishy, and I figured that Watson simply denied an interview request.

This sounds right. Saban was trying to get official permission from NU to talk to him, but Watson decided to just not mess with it and stay at Nebraska. Given his family ties there, I can't blame him a bit.

At this point it is seemingly either Hatcher or Clements, and if those two pass, we are probably going to see a bunch of new names brought up. Or we might go the dreaded route of simply promoting Pendry to OC and bringing in a QB coach... :rolleye2:
He would have been foolish to fly here without an offer in hand, IMO. Burned bridges...

Clements has been my guess all along. He would be a great hire - if he is willing to leave Favre (they are very tight). Let's keep our fingers crossed that Favre retires, and announces it soon...
With the team the Packers have assembled and considering how young they are I doubt Favre retires. I wouldn't think Favre would mind Clements coming to Alabama. Favre likes Bama...;)

I hope you are right - the drop-off after Clements is huge (unless we steal someone from another prominent program)...

If we get Hatcher though... with that offense... and Nick Saban's defense.... *shutters* it's over my friends, NC contenders within two years.

I have to say that your statement is one of the most mind boggling I have ever read . It's more like Cecil , Kirk , 100 others and then Scott Moore . Now , I feel badly for ever having anything to do with the existence of his "career" .

Anyone who allows acquaintances to quote their private conversations or , submit summaries of them on a public board has lost 100% of whatever credibility they may have once had . Scott has allowed such to happen every day since the search began .

Cecil & Kirk know more than any other members of the media . Other than Finebaum , nobody else is even on the same planet . One of the reasons is that they don't burn sources by sharing insider info with aquaintances or allow summaries of confidential information to be posted on public sports boards .

Just remember that the ones who know what's up , are not and will not be spilling their info for public posting - ever . As soon as they did , their sources would be finished with them - forever .
You are entitled to feel how you feel, however "confidential sources" do not always share information meaning for it to be kept in confidence.

I know Scott...and I also know some of the same people he knows...only he knows them on a more personal basis. If Scott is adamant that something will happen, I would bank on it...but sometimes a situation is fluid and subject to changing. If he is guilty of anything, it is the typical desire that media types have to be the first with the scoop. That is how Rich Rod ended up on the front page of the Bham News as Alabama's new coach...and how Dewey defeated Truman.

One issue that Scott and I and others who know a few people are dealing with now, is that Saban plays things much closer to the vest than others did. Most of my AD contacts are gone now, and the BOT folks are not as "in the loop" as they once were.

There are always varying degrees of certainty and things don't always play out. I was 80% sure that Tubs was gone to Arkansas - because of connections I have with the Barn BOT...but it turned into a game of chicken and neither one would flinch...now his Coordinators are gone in large part because of it.

I guess calling him a hack is not unfair. The same thing can be said about anyone who reports in secondary media format - and increasingly it is the case with mainstream media as they try to keep up with the "hacks" who are breaking news while they are verifying sources.

In the long run, too many misses will kill credibility, but so will being presented as an "unbiased reporter" covering the Keller lawsuit, while having had him as a cosigner to a personal loan...and so will spending 3 years defending your buddy Logan Young while Bama gets hammered because of his activities. I don't know that Moore has struck out as many times as he has hit home runs, but I know about Cecil and Kirk. I still consider them generally reliable, but I trust Scott if they butt heads...and the track record supports that stance.

As for Finebaum...he is connected, but he is the ultimate hack and promoter of disinformation to suit his own purposes. Scott has no purpose other than wanting a scoop.

If we can't find another suitable fit odds are Pendry will be OC/OL coach and there will probably be a qb's coach hired.
Well I'm behind the staff. Whatever they decide is fine with me. I think that coaching kept us in all of those games that were close. With better talent and different coaches, it does mix things up a bit. I like change, it keeps me on my toes. RTR

No it doesn't . Moore has been around for around 14-15 years and has been on the decline for nearly half as long . I'm well aware of Scott . He might try to sell a different version but , he got his start as a caller and "Coach Pat" impersonator . As far as I know , I was the 1st person to ever close the door and open a mic in front of his face .

Kirk has around 40 years on the job and Cecil knows more than anyone else - period . When reputable major national publications and networks stop calling Cecil & Kirk and start calling Scott , I'll call him credible . However , that will never happen . I would best describe his recent tatics as following a "career killing" path .

As far as info and source sharing goes , I spent many years doing just that on a daily basis . I know and understand how the game works . Apparently , Scott Moore does not . I understand that you know Scott and would naturally be inclined to stick up for him . I also understand the acquaintance or friendship angle and I respect your stance on some level . However , I do not and will not come to respect Scott or any other media member who violates the ethics of the business on a near daily basis with pre-school 101 reporting tactics .

Sorry . RTR :BigA:
