Julio reminds me of Terrell Owens in terms of his physical abilities. A big, phyisical, fast receiver who can make plays after catching the ball.

My dream scenario (hey, I'm a fan, I can dream) would be:

Against Aubarn - 11 receptions, 195 yds, 3 touchdowns... sweet.

RTR
That works for me.

And to think, All-Barn didn't even want Julio. Seriously, this is what a couple of their fans told me after NSD 2008.

Maybe UT can call their "new offense" the Dingle-berry rather than the Wild berry.

Julio is as advertised. Roll Tide.

Like Chris from Foley we saw Julio for three years here -- he is of course right about Julio, as is everyone else here.

But I still don't think we have seen some parts of Julio's game yet in any Bama game. If the guy ever gets out in the open field -- as someone hinted at here -- you will see what I mean. His 11th grade year, when he ran the 86 yard TD on a kickoff return against UMS-Wright, he got that 4.48 speed cranked up on a straightaway, and that is what "the greater public" has yet to see. The DB's in college are not letting him get loose like the HS DB's did, granted. In HS, over and over again, he would buttonhook about ten yards downfield, usually towards the flat, whirl around the DB and outrun him for, say, forty years to the goal-line.

I think that, as is being said, he is learning to run better routes. In HS, he didn't HAVE to run a good route to get the ball thrown to him. They would throw it to him, regardless of whether he had three men hanging on him, if and when they needed to jump on the other team, get a first down, or take over momentum. It seems fairly obvious that since JPW has been told not to throw interceptions (again) this year, he has refused to throw to Julio if he is covered well downfield -- in situations where he WAS thrown to in HS.

As a result of facing the better DB's, and of the reticence on JPW's part to throw to him downfield, we have seen relatively little of Julio's shiftiness downfield and his speed in the open field. Another thing, No. 8 for Georgia has a QB with a stronger arm than JPW. Stafford can drill a fastball, whereas JPW throws a nice catchable pass. The trouble is, if JPW doesn't locate it just right, it is also catchable by the opposing DB's. Therefore, in my opinion, Julio is not getting the opportunities that the Georgia freshman wideout is getting downfield.

But what a thing of beauty when JPW spotted Julio breaking across the middle late in the second quarter and he suddenly stepped into the throw downfield. Perhaps with Julio running better routes and JPW gaining confidence in him, we will see more and more of this.
